After the House of David Over Judah

 Nadene Goldfoot

                                         Babylonia

After King Zedekiah was captured and blinded by the Babylonians in 586 BCE (he was imprisoned in Babylon rather than killed), the Kingdom of Judah was completely dismantled and transformed into a Babylonian province.

The prophet Jeremiah prophesies (625- BCE)  the downfall of Jerusalem to King Zedekiah(597-586 BCE)  (painting by Joseph Stallaert)  To the people, Baal was the principal God of the sky and of fertility, so very important in those days happening in the field and the womb. That's what they had adopted to believe in, along with the  Babylonians

Our prophet, Ezekiel  may have served in the Temple before it's destruction in (586 BCE).  He was exiled  to Tel Abib on the smaller river, Kebar in  Babylonia where he had to live for 22 years.  .

The Burning of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar's Army by Juan de la Corte

                  Destroying the Temple in Jerusalem

Destruction of Jerusalem: The Babylonian army under Nebuchadnezzar II burned the city of Jerusalem, destroyed Solomon’s Temple, and tore down the city walls in 587/586 BCE or in my Jewish history records (597-586 BCE)  .

Appointment of Gedaliah ben Ahikam,: A  righteous governor  Nebuchadnezzar II appointed a Jewish man named Gedaliah as the military governor to rule over the remaining population from Mizpah.  Assassination of Gedaliah: After only two months, Gedaliah was assassinated by Ishmael, a member of the former royal house, along with his supporters.

                Babylonians driving Judeans to Babylonia

Jeremiah, realizing he also is deported to Babylon  with others

Third Deportation and Flight:

Fearing Babylonian retaliation for Gedaliah’s murder, many remaining Judeans—along with the prophet Jeremiah—fled to Egypt, while a third wave of captives was deported to Babylon in 582 BCE.

The Babylonian Exile: The sovereign Kingdom of Judah ceased to exist, beginning the decades-long Babylonian Exile until the rise of the Persian Empire.  The revolt continued, perhaps because there were rumours about political troubles in Babylon. In 589 BCE, the Babylonian armies again marched against the Kingdom of Judah and, after a long siege, took Jerusalem in 586 BCE.

Babylonia, land of Shinar or the Kasdim (Chaldees)

Nevertheless, the Kingdom of Judah disappeared from the map and the region of Judea (Yehud in Aramaic) was now a province of the Babylonian Empire.

Abraham had left his city of Ur on the Euphrates River  which ran North to Babylonia, that wild city full of Baal religionists who worshipped a Bull and believed in  human sacrificing.  He had wanted his descendants to have nothing to do with all this.  That's why he moved to Canaan.

From Abraham's day, let's say in 1948 BCE he had hoped his move would have a good outcome of morally righteous people. That took place  3,974 or 4,000 years ago.

Moses was born in 1391 BCE and started off at age 80 trying to share his awareness and connectivity to a moral life, so that was 1,311 + 2026= 3,339 years ago.  Did anyone succeed?  Look at us today.  Who is righteous and who has wronged us?

The Persian Empire took over the Neo-Babylonian Empire in 539 BCE.  (Like immediately).  It was lost in 586 BCE.

  • Battle of Opis: Persian forces defeated the Babylonian army in September 539 BCE.
  • Fall of Babylon: Persian troops entered the city of Babylon on October 12, 539 BCE, led by general Gubaru (Gobryas).
  • Cyrus's Entry: King Cyrus the Great entered the city later that month on October 29, 539 BCE, ending Babylonian independence and absorbing the region into the Achaemenid Empire.

  •      The Persian king Cyrus the Great allowed the Jewish people to leave Babylon and return to Jerusalem. This happened 47 to 50 years after losing their Babylonian homes and were  nudged to return to Jerusalem now.

Last Days of Judah the Southern End of Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

King Saul, 1st king of Israel chosen by prophet Samuel because the people were clamoring for a king and not just judges.  They wanted to be like other countries.  Saul was the son of Kish from the tribe of Benjamin.  The Philistines and Ammorites were the enemies then that he had to fight off. They kept an eye on the Moabites and Arameans as well.  Saul didn't get along with Samuel which was sad, because Samuel held more power.  He chose David to take his place.

Jews lived in Israel ever since it was Canaan, and yes, they took over this almost barren land of city-states, each with his own king with subjects never more than 1,000.  They were told to live in this land by Moses who was told by G-d.  They had lived there before when Abraham had led their ancestors till the drought during Jacob's day.  Israelites had entered at the end of the Exodus from Egypt, about 1570 BCE or 3,600 years ago and remained there till this day with interruptions in the year 70 with the Roman forces taking Jerusalem, exiling those Jews they could catch.  There had then remained a Jewish presence, but its government was in shatters.

King Jehoiakim was king of Judah, son of King Josiah and reigned from 608 to 598 BCE, made king by Pharaoh Necoh in succession to his brother Jehoahaz.  For 3 years he was a subject to Egypt, but after Necoh was defeated at the Battle of Carchemish in 605 BCE, became a Babylonian vassal.  In 601 BCE he joined the pro-Egyptian party in Judah in opposition to the advice of Jeremiah the Prophet who depicts Jehoiakim as a tyrannical oppressor.  Jehoiakim died while Jerusalem was under siege by the Babylonians in 598 BCE.

Jeremiah tried to warn everyone, but who listens to prophet talking to G-d?  He was part of Aaron, brother of Moses' family-the priestly family of men we find today with the DNA haplogroup of J1-the Cohen gene. The family lived NE of  Jerusalem in Anathoth- of tribe of Benjamin;   a village of today identified with the Arab village, Anata.

Jeremiah began his prophecy/news broadcasting as analyzer  in 625 BCE.  He started by scolding the nation of Judah of idolatry and after Josiah's reform in 621, warned it to keep the covenant then made with G-d.  His prophecies were gloomy and aroused bitter resentment, but during the reigns of Jehoiakim and Zedekiah, found supporters among leading personalities and priests, like Baruch-a member of a prominent family who joined him as a faithful friend and scribe.  when Nebuchadnezzar ascended the Babylonian throne in 605 BCE Jeremiah forecast that he would conquer Judah.  It came true!!! King Jehoiakim, fearing the effect of this prophecy on the populace, ordered the arrest of Jeremiah who was the forced to go into hiding until the country submitted to Nebuchadnezzar the following year of 597 BCE.

Jews had had an empire in this land.  They had their own language, Hebrew.  They had royalty of king, queen, prince and princess, a government, everything needed to create a country.

King Jehoiachin of Judah, son of Jehoiakim, then reigned in 597 BCE when the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar invaded the land the next year.  He had succeeded to the throne at age 18 during this attack and reigned for 3 months and 10 days before capitulating to Nebuchadnezzar.  He was taken to exile in Babylonia along with the others, remaining in detention until the accession of Evil-Merodach (son of Nebuchadnezzar II (reigning from 562 to 556 BCE) in 561BCE when the Judean king was  released from prison(II kings 24-5:  II chron. 36:8-10) by Merodach.  Official Babylonian records relating to his captivity have been recovered. By my records, he was released at age 54, there since he was 18 years old.

           Zedekiah captured by the Babylonians

Zedekiah (597-586 BCE) became Judah's last king;  son of previous king Josiah,  and  appointed king by Nebuchadnezzar when King Jehoiachin was exiled. He took the throne at age 21.  After 9 years of kingship under Nebuchadnezzar's power, he joined forces with Egypt.  The result was bad;  Babylonians invaded  his kingdom and captured Jerusalem.  Nebuchadnezzar then had his eyes put out and put in prison till he died.  (II Kings 25: Jer.52).  All because he had refused to join an anti-Babylonian coalition of neighboring kingdoms and in 594 had visited Babylon.  3 Kings in a row  made mistakes and this was costly.  It was a serious time with invasion from Babylonia happening.

The Jews had been attacked by Nebuchadnezzar and taken away from their land to Babylonia where they remained for 70 years until freed by the Persian king, Cyrus, king of the Queen Esther story in the Bible who may have even been her son or grandson. He admonished the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple, which many did.

League of Nations in the 1920s.
Chaim Weizmann (1874-1952) and Hussein Ibn Feisal (1885-1933) eldest son of Hussein, sherif of Mecca who led the Arab rising against the Ottoman Empire's Turkey in meetings about creating Israel-became King of Syria;  at first sympathetic to Zionism which he hoped to receive aid in building his future kingdom. Hussein was THE spokesman of the day, speaking for all Palestinians.   The two men met in Transjordan in 1918, Paris in 1919 and reached agreements.:  Chaim, a chemist who became 1st president of Israel;  born in Motel near Pinsk (Russia then-formerly Poland)

Israel was renewed with a 2nd birth after going through all preliminary preparation throughout World War I and the League of Nations with "Britain in control, and then the birth of the United Nations in 1947.  November 29, 1947 Resolution recommended the establishment, in Palestine, of both a Jewish and an Arab state.  The state of Israel was proclaimed by the Palestine Jewish authorities on May 14, 1948" the result of daily work, form filling, letter writing, meetings, promises and tears. At this time, there were 650,000 Jews in the land.   The Arabs had turned the offer down.  The Arab leaders refused to recognize any Jewish national rights in the land and were intent upon imposing complete Arab control over it.  This Arab opposition erupted into violence in 1920, 1921, 1929 and from 1936 to 1939.  the outbreaks consisted mainly of terror attacks against Jewish villages and urban communities.

In 1929 was the massacre of 67 Jews in Hebron and the destruction of their synagogues that put an end to the existence of that city's Jewish community there.  Jews had lived there for the past 2,000 years.  517 Jews were killed by Arab attacks between 1939 and 1939.

Brits taking their flag down in Palestine--Good bye---
Brits leaving Palestine on May 14, 1948, minutes after Israel's birth

On the eve of this momentous day in 1948, Great Britain relinquished its control of its 30 year mandate.

When the Arab armies soon invaded Israel in 1948, as they wanted not a piece of the pie but the whole thing, and that's what they were holding out for,  no concrete help was afforded by the UN in implementing its resolution but UN mediators negotiated the following  cease-fire and armistice agreements supervised by a Truce Supervision Organization with headquarters in Jerusalem.

Jews still exist.  They didn't fade away into history like all the other nations.  Only a few exist; Egypt and now Israel's government is revived-no longer dead.  I repeat, Jews never left.  There's always being some living on the land.

I'd say Syria only that is about to be swallowed up in a sinkhole. This was Aram in the bible,, land of the Phoenicians who was in constant friction with Israel and Judah until overrun by the Assyrians.   They would not sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1948 or since.

Now in its 10th year, the Syrian conflict has led to more than 500,000 deaths and displaced an estimated 13 million—over half of Syria’s pre-war population. Over 6.2 million Syrians are internally displaced, and 5.6 million are refugees, predominantly in Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey.  In 2011 they had a population of 22,505,000 of 90% Muslim Sunni/Shi'as, still a belligerent people.

Bashar al-Assad (born 11 September 1965) is a Syrian politician who is the current and 19th president of Syria since 17 July 2000. I believe Russians and Iranians are today's invaders of Syria.

Sharif Hussein ibn Ali (c 1854 - 1931). Hussein was appointed Sharif and Emir of Mecca in 1908. He shared with his fellow Arabs a strong dislike for his Ottoman overlords and opposed the Ottomanisation of the Hejaz region. With British backing, Hussein launched the Arab Revolt against Ottoman forces in Arabia on 5 June 1916. At the Versailles Peace Conference, he was acknowledged as King of Hejaz but not as King of the Arabs. Hussein ruled Hejaz until 1924 when he was defeated by Ibn Saud and abdicated in favour of his eldest son Ali.

Today's Arab countries have no such history.  They are not necessarily the descendants of the ancient countries that were neighbors of Israel or Judea.  Today's people are direct descendants of Arabians of Arabs, specifically, Saudi Arabia.  Both Jews and Muslims were called Palestinians before 1948.  There never has been a country of Palestine, only the land named by the Romans in retaliation of Bar Kokhba's 3 years of holding Jerusalem against them.  Romans named it for Israel's worst enemies, the Philistines. The PLO's talents do not include creating and running a country.  Israel has been paying for their electricity, etc for many years, but they could afford to build tunnels used for smuggling in weapons to use against Israel.

Abdullah I: bin Al-Hussein   (2 February 1882 – 20 July 1951) was the ruler of Jordan from 11 April 1921 until his assassination in 1951. He was the Emir of Transjordan, a British protectorate, until 25 May 1946, after which he was king of an independent Jordan. As a member of the Hashemite dynasty, the royal family of Jordan since 1921, Abdullah was a 38th-generation direct descendant of Muhammad.

As Prince of Arabia 2nd son of Hussein, sherif of Mecca of 4 sons of Hussein bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca, and his first wife, Abdiyya bint Abdullah. and later, king of Hejaz which is part of Saudi Arabia, where Mecca and Medina lie,  wanted land  to rule.  Being a 2nd son means he missed out on the kingship.  He gave his support of his tribe and men to Britain during WWI and that led to his nomination as ruler of Transjordan in 1923.  He had a moderate attitude toward Zionism and negotiated with Chaim Weizmann in 1922 but had a change of heart after hearing his people bicker about it, invaded Israel in 1948.  Then he formally annexed the Arab-held part of Cis-Jordan in 1950 and proclaimed himself ruler of the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan.  Supposedly, they are the direct descendants of Muhammad.  He attempted to reach an understanding with Israel, but his people....the Palestinian Arabs, they called themselves....Abdullah died in an assassination in Jerusalem at the instance of the Mufti, Haj Amin el Husseini.

Transjordan of 1921 has become Jordan with the ruler being Abdullah.  In 1952 his grandson became ruler, Hussein.  In 1967 Hussein entered the war of 1967 against Israel with other countries.  They were defeated and Israel took back the land now called the West Bank that in truth is Judea and Samaria.  Hussein even had to expelled the Palestine Liberation organization from his country for a time.  He was later reconciled with their leader, Arafat.  In 1988 he stopped protecting them, giving the job to the PLO.  His own support had been coming from the Bedouin tribesmen of his country that he had brought over from Arabia while a majority of its inhabitant of Jordan were now Palestinians.  In 1992 the population of Jordan was 2 million of whom 85% were Moslem Arabs.  By 2011, the population was 5,568,565 with 95%  Sunni Muslims of the Shafi'i main fiqh.

2021:  Queen Rania and King Abdullah II of Jordan; 2 girls and 2 boys:  Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem.  (Hashem in Hebrew means-the name).  The present king, another Abdullah, has married a very beautiful Palestinian woman, mother of his children.

A view from Mount Gerizim of Mount Ebal in Samaria, the mountains on which the Israelites were commanded to pronounce the blessings and curses upon entering the Promised Land. Nablus, the Biblical Shechem, is located in between the mountains, where Abram built an altar to the Lord (Genesis 12:6–8; Deuteronomy 27). It's now an Arab city.  Shechem had been land held by Jordan.  It lies in the territory of the tribe of Ephraim, a levitical city and a city of refuge as well as being the center of the House of Joseph.  In fact, Joseph is buried here, and he's not an ancestor of the Palestinian Arabs !  Later on, Shechem was the cult center of the Samaritans.  What a history it has gone through!  It befuddles the mind.

Today, Judah, which became Judaea under Rome, and now Judea and Samaria, is under the gavel of being sold off to the Palestinian Arabs in bartering for peace with Iran, USA and-oh yes, let's not forget-Israel in the latest deal offer. Iran has been allowed to create atomic energy which they will place in their rockets that threaten not only Saudi Arabia but the USA and Israel as well.  An atom bomb delivered in any manner is the greatest threat of all time, and it's coming from a meshugana enemy of Iran-a country taken over by extremist Ayatollahs.
We have a population today of one mind which differs from the new government in things like justice. We have a small more religious population taking the advantage of the Oslo Accords whereby there is land in "West Bank"-true name is Judea/Samaria for Jewish settlement who have villages and towns already created and lived in there that have been under the gun of the Arabs daily who feel unprotected except by themselves with some getting out of hand in their zealousness.

NO Proselytiziing, Please, and I'll Tell You Why

Nadene Goldfoot
Moses with the Strongest Deal in the World
"You shall not recognize the gods of others in My Presence!"
Moses told all of Israel to hear the decrees of the deal.
"Hashem, our G-d, sealed the deal (a covenant) but with us-we who are here,
all of us alive, today.
Face to face did Hashem speak with you on the mountain, from amid the fire.  I was standing between Hashem and you at that time, to relate the word of Hashem to you-for you were afraid of the fire and you did not ascend the mountain--saying:
I am Hashem, your G-d, who has taken you out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of slavery.  "
Remember that this happened in days when Greeks and Romans and Egyptians believed in many gods
and people that were part gods.  This was one of the first 5 commandments we were to learn. The Israelites were children of Abraham and children of others  and had learned that there was
only one G-d in the universe from Abraham, but had been slaves for 400 years of the Egyptians.
Moses was an adopted Egyptian Prince from the line of Abraham and educated in the Egyptian royal academy.
He wrote the first 5 books of what non-Jews call the OLD TESTAMENT-we Jews call the Torah while on the 40 year trek from Egypt to Canaan, the Jewish Homeland.

For over 2,000 years, people have been busy proselytizing Jews to follow their other religion, and Jews have remained adamant about not leaving their own religion.  This happened with Christian knights, the Crusaders  from Europe, taking Jerusalem from the Muslims.  The pressure never really stopped, but only got worse when Spain, which had become Catholic, turned against the Jewish population and said it was either conversion time or hit the highway, and if you stayed and continued to remain a Jew, it was the stake for you.  Many who were able to, left for Portugal and other places.  Now I see we have missionaries hitting Sderot on the border of Israel and Gaza who are proselytizing those Jews who have been enduring bombs from Gaza.

Egyptian soldiers drowning in the chase after the Israelites

Here's a message to proselytizers of Christians and of any Muslims who think that Jews are an easy target to convert.  We're not easy targets.  We've lasted in our beliefs for 2,000 years since so many of us had to leave our country in 70 CE , and we're not a stupid people. Moses was our leader and so we Israelites have followed his laws  from about 1311 BCE till today. That's 3,327 years.    Our ancestors who left Egypt as slaves signed an oath with Moses that they would not deviate from our beliefs, and that they would pass on the knowledge to their descendants. It was the deal of all time, a deal stronger than what Donald Trump would make with the Iranians, and we are keepers of our deal with G-d.   Moses had been told things by G-d and our ancestors took it very seriously.  When they didn't, they received punishment.  Moses was special.  He made a believer out of our long ago relatives.  He made it very clear that we were to believe that there was only ONE G-d, and we were to follow commandments that he handed down to Moses.

Jews have always been faced with people who said they were a prophet, and they wound up proving that they weren't.  So false prophets or false messiahs have been in our past history.  Moses warned us that this would happen.  He said, "If there should stand up in your midst a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, and he will produce to you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes about of which he spoke to you, saying, "LET US FOLLOW GODS OF OTHERS THAT YOU DID NOT KNOW AND WE SHALL WORSHIP THEM!," Do not hearken to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of a dream, for Hashem (the NAME)G-d, your G-d, is testing yu to know whether you love Hashem, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.  Hashem, your G-d, shall you follow and Him shall you fear;  His commandments shall you observe and to His voice shall you hearken;  Him shall you serve and to Him shall you cleave.  Deuteronomy 13: 1-5).  He was talking about false prophets.  Even Christianity has hearkened to this and teaches it; no false prophets.  All 3 religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam accept Moses as a prophet.  Jews see it differently in that Jesus and Mohammad are regarded as false prophets. For Jews, the things that were to take place when the Messiah does come did not happen with Jesus; in fact they were persecuted more, and lost the Temple and their empire and were scattered like grain by the winds of war.  It's in these days that they have been found, harvested back and returning to Israel once again.

Jeremiah, As Michelangelo depicted him
Jews were also reminded of this teaching of Moses by Jeremiah, a later prophet of the 7th-to 6th century BCE. He started to prophecy in 625 BCE, and it was helpful that he belonged to a priestly family of Anathoth near Jerusalem.  His prophecy started with scolding the Jews for their idolatry, and after King Josiah of Judah's  reform in 621 BCE, warned it to keep the covenant then made with G-d.   This was after the Assyrians had attacked Israel in 722, 721 BCE when the best and strongest of the people of 10 of the 12 tribes were kidnapped and taken away.   He was angry about false prophets he was encountering and said that G-d spoke to him saying that, "These prophets prophesy falsehood in MY NAME!  I did not send them nor command them nor speak to them.  A false vision, divination, emptiness, and the deception of their heart are they prophesying to you.  128 years later the Babylonians attacked twice, once in 597 BCE and again in 586 with  Nebuchadnezzar leading his soldiers, they attacked and destroyed the land and took people away.  Jeremiah was a scolder, giving out gloomy news which caused bitter resentment.  It was in 605 BCE, when Nebuchadnezzar sat on his Babylonian throne that Jeremiah said that he would conquer Judah, and was arrested by King Jehoiakim who feared such news would have a bad effect on the people.

Zechariah of 6th Century BCE, prophesied  positive things; about events of the day, foretold prosperity, ingathering  of exiles, liberation from foreign yoke, and expansion of Jerusalem.
His visions and their interpretation he said were by an accompanying angel.
Encouraged people to rebuild the Temple.
Zechariah, the Prophet,(born in first half of 6th century BCE) was a prophet living during the period of the return from the Babylonian Exile.   He reminded people that G-d would judge His people through false prophets. He was told by G-d,  "For behold, I am setting up a shepherd in the land:  he will not pay attention to the decimated ones;  he will not seek out the youth;  he will not heal the broken one;  and he will not nurture the weak one;  but he will eat the flesh of the healthy one and break their hooves."  Zechariah was referring the Edom (the Roman Empire), in whose lands the exiled Jews would settle and be maltreated.  Also, Herod, the notorious king placed on the Judean throne by the Romans, who reigned towards the end of the 2nd Temple period.  They were not to be believed or followed.

We almost had a Messiah.  It was a Jewish general, Shimeon ben Kosiba, known as Bar Kokhba (son of a star).   Rabbi Akiba, one of the greatest scholar in Jewish history, believed that Bar Kokhba was the mashiach.

Now we have 2 very similar words to learn. " Mashiach" is a Hebrew word.  The root of it as well spell it out is Mem-shin-chet, which means to paint, smear or annoint.   The word "Moshiah" comes from the root spelled out as Yod-Shin-ayin, which means to help or save.  They both use a shin "sh" which is the most common letter in Hebrew, and the mem "M" which they both start with.  M is a common prefix used to turn a verb into a noun like the verb tzavah (to command) become mitzvah (a commandment).  The word Mashiach is not related to Moshiah.  the logic of that is like saying that "RING" IS RELATED TO SURFING BECAUSE THEY BOTH END IN ING."  The English derivitave of Mashiah is Messiah, the annointed one, the ultimate deliverer and mashiah is used as an adjective referring to kings, who are people that had to be annointed in order to serve the post. which meant that they received Divine sanction and the unique inviolability of status.   Jews do not believe they need saving.  They save themselves by their own mitzvahs-good deeds.

Shimeon Ben Kosiba/ Bar Kokhba, died 135 CE
Charismatic, brilliant revolutionary leader, nephew of Rabbi Eleazar of Modiin
and known to be of Davidic descent.  He had to fight against Hadrian, Roman General.
Letters from him were found near the Dead Sea where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
The revolt came because the Romans had turned Jerusalem into a Roman colony and the Romans
prohibited circumcision, major factors.
The prerequisites of the Messiah is that he must be descendant of King David who would be able to break the alien yoke and establish a golden age.  Today with DNA testing, and this would be testing the male line I presume to be of J1 for King David's Y haplogroup, there are many Jewish men carrying this line.  Bar Kokhba almost fit the bill.  He fought the 3 year war from 132 to 135 CE  against the Roman empire and caught the 10th Legion by surprise and retook Jerusalem.  He again resumed sacrifices at the site of the burned Temple and made plans to rebuild it.  He established a provisional government and began to issue coins in his name.  Ultimately, the Romans were stronger and crushed his revolt and killed him, but that was the longest anyone had ever held out against the Romans.  After his death, his followers realized that he was not the talked about Mashiach.

The Jews are waiting for one of  the following to happen.  Some people believe that G-d has a specific date for the man, the mashiach, to appear.  Most feel that the conduct of mankind will decide the time of the mashiach's coming.  He is to come at a time when he is most needed or in a time when he is most deserved.  Perhaps one of these factors will happen to bring him about.
1. If Israel repented a single day
2. If Israel observed a single Shabbat properly
3. If Israel observed 2 Shabbats in a row properly
4. In a generation that is totally innocent or totally guilty
5. In a generation that loses hope
6. In a generation where children are totally disrespectful towards their parents and elders.

Ezekiel ( 6th century BCE Prophet-member of the priestly family of Zadok, may have served in the Temple before its destruction in 586 BCE.  He was exiled before that date to Tel Abib on the river Kebar in Babylonia where he prophecied over a period of about 22 years) said that before the time of the Mashiach, there shall be war and suffering. In Ezekiel  38:16, he said,  "and you advance against My people Israel like a cloud covering the earth.  It will be at the End of Days that I will bring you upon My land, in order that the nations may know Me, when I become sanctified through you before their eyes."  Many people feel we are now in the End of Days.  What with Iran coming into atomic powered weapons such as missiles shortly to be used against Israel, it is no wonder people feel this is happening.

Jews do not believe that the Messiah is any part of G-d or divine in any way, so that is not what we have been waiting and praying for.  Our only salvation comes from G-d, not an intermediary.  Jews do not concern ourselves with the Messiah's identity for he is to be a regular person and his appearance will not change our relationship with G-d.  Any idea that G-d would appear to us in the flesh is abhorant to us.  The idea is like  idolatry and we cannot follow such ideas.

It is not respectful  of anyone in our history from Abraham to Moses to any of the prophets or the 10 Commandments to try to proselytize us to another religion.  It shows disrespect and lack of understanding of what we believe and why.  We haven't proselytized anyone to ours, and the old adage that is found in Jewish teaching of the Golden Rule is to not do to others something you do not want done to you.

After 1985 when I returned from Israel after living there for 5 1/2 years, I heard about some proselytizers who had been in Israel on a kibbutz of Holocaust survivors who had lost their faith in G-d, people who were the most susceptible to these proselytizers, broken people.  They had gone through so much and had survived, to make it and heal again in Israel, and here were the vultures picking on their bones, trying to wean them away from why 6 million of their people had been brutally slaughtered.  They had the chutzpa to brag about it in an interview for a local newspaper.  You can't imagine how angry I was or what I did about it.  So here I am writing, please lay off, proselytizers.  Respect our religion.  You don't have to be Jewish, just respect us as we respect you and yours.  We're not harming you.  In fact, Israel has been doing a lot of mitzvahs in the field of science and has been helping people so much in the medical fields.
