New York mayor position Contestant, Zohran Mamdani

 Nadene Goldfoot

Mahmood Mamdani FBA is a Ugandan academic, author, and political commentator. The Herbert Lehman Professor of Government and a professor of anthropology, political science and African studies at Columbia University, he also serves as the chancellor of Kampala International University in Uganda.

Mahmood Mamdani, the father of Zohran, sits on the board of the anti-Israel organization The Gaza Tribunal

In his 2004 book Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America, the Cold War, and the Roots of Terror Mamdani said that suicide bombers should be recognized “as a category of soldier” and that it should be “understood as a feature of modern political violence rather than stigmatized as a mark of barbarism”. Some academics said this was not an advocacy of suicide bombing, but merely an analysis

Mahmood is one of The Gaza Tribunal’s 29-member advisory policy council, alongside former British Labour Party MP Jeremy Corbyn. The organization aims to “awaken civil society to its responsibility and opportunity to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza” by “exerting civil society pressure on governments to act.”

He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in government from Harvard University in 1974. His thesis was titled Politics and Class Formation in Uganda.

Moreover, “Mamdani’s mother, Mira Nair, is an Indian-

American, Oscar-nominated film director, producer, and

writer.  Like her husband, she supports the Boycott,

Divestment, & Sanctions (BDS) movement dedicated to

Israel’s permanent dissolution as a Jewish state.”  She claims

that Israel is an apartheid state, which is patently

false, yet constantly the lie is repeated.

Moreover, Mamdani refused to sign on to a pair of

resolutions recognizing Israel and the Holocaust.

Mamdani and Nair have a son, Zohran Mamdani. He is a

member of the New York State Assembly, representing the

36th District in Queens. Zohran Mamdani, was born in

Kampala, Uganda in 1991. In 2020, Zohran won a seat

representing Astoria, Queens, in the New York State

Assembly. He won the Democratic Primary for the New

 York mayoral election in 2025

The emergence of Zohran Mamdani and the acceptance of his

vile anti-Semitism make for serious trepidation in us Jews

and should scare everyone else as well in New York.

In fact, in “June 2025, Republican Rep. Andy Ogles

(Tennessee) wrote a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi,

urging the Department of Justice to investigate Mamdani

 under 8 U.S.C. § 1451(a), a law that permits the revocation of a

person’s naturalized citizenship if he or she is found to have

concealed or lied about associations with terrorist groups

 during the naturalization process.”

WASHINGTON — Immediately after Zohran Mamdani became the presumptive Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City last month, one Republican congressman had a provocative suggestion for the Trump administration: “He needs to be DEPORTED.”

The Uganda-born Mamdani obtained U.S. citizenship in 2018 after moving to the United States with his parents as a child. But Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., argued in his post on X that the Justice Department should consider revoking it over rap lyrics that, he said, suggested support for Hamas.

In 2017, “Mamdani released a rap song titled ‘Salam,’ in which

he praised the so-called ‘Holy Land Five’ — leaders of the now-

defunct Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, a

pseudo-charity that was in fact a terrorist ally of Hamas.”

In fact, “during his years at Bowdoin (2010–2014), Mamdani

 co-founded the school’s chapter

of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), an anti-Israel

 advocacy group that supports

 the Hamas-inspired BDS movement.”

Furthermore, we recoil with horror at Mamdani’s embrace of

socialism, which always leads to communism.

But Mamdani is “a candidate that openly advocates for

philosophical principles and positions that are

fundamentally hostile to the [American] founding,” such as

Democratic socialism.

Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old who soared to the lead in the New York City mayoral Democratic primary, describes himself as a democratic socialist. But some politicians and social media posts falsely labelled him a communist.President Donald Trump called Mamdani “a 100% Communist Lunatic”, in a June 25 Truth Social post.

Democratic socialism is a political and economic philosophy

that combines democracy with socialism. It advocates for a

democratic political system while also promoting social

ownership or control of the means of production, aiming to

reduce economic inequality and empower workers. Unlike

traditional socialism, democratic socialists typically favor

working within existing democratic institutions to achieve

their goals, rather than seeking revolutionary change

And like any good leftist hypocrite, Zohran Mamdani, who has

called for abolishing private property, actually owns land in

 Uganda!
