Maurene Ryan Comey (born August 1988) is an American attorney who served as an assistant United States attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) from 2016 to 2025. ] Comey is the first daughter of James Comey and Patricia Failor. James is a former prosecutor who served as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2013 until his dismissal in 2017. She graduated from the College of William & Mary, where she performed in the Sinfonicron Light Opera Company, in 2010 and from Harvard Law School in 2013.
James Brien Comey Jr. born December 14, 1960) is an American lawyer who was the seventh director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2013 until his termination in May 2017. Comey was a registered Republican for most of his adult life but in 2016 he stated he was unaffiliated. He was fired by President Donald Trump in 2017. Comey is a senior fellow at the Kettering Foundation, an American non-partisan research foundation.
The US Department of Justice has fired a federal prosecutor , Maurene Comey, who worked on the cases against sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, and hip hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
It is not clear why Maurene Comey was removed from her job at the Southern District of New York. But a day after she was fired, Comey told former colleagues that "fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to supress independent thought". Her exit comes as Trump and the justice department's leader, Attorney General Pam Bondi, face backlash over the administration's handling of files relating to Epstein.

Maurene's married to Lucas Issacharoff, also from Harvard. He was the Assistant United State Attorney of the Southern District of New York from September 2019 to the Present for 5 years 11 months in the Civil Division.
There is a Samuel Issacharoff (born 1954) who is an American legal scholar. His scholarly work focuses on constitutional law, voting rights and civil procedure. He is the Bonnie and Richard Reiss Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University School of Law. Issacharoff's mother was born in Argentina to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe (Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian). His father was born in Uruguay, and was of Bukharian Jewish descent from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. He is the right age to be Lucas's father. In addition to his academic work, Issacharoff has argued dozens of cases in the federal courts of appeals, including in the U.S. Supreme Court.
