Before you get too excited, I'm excited over Dr. Oz's position towards Jews and Israel, as he is of Turkish origins. Oz grew up in a mixed Muslim environment where his father's family practiced more traditional Islam, while his mother's family were more secular Muslims. As a child, he spent summers in Turkey and spent two years in the Turkish army after college to maintain his dual citizenship.
"Oz has long been a supporter of Israel and visited the Jewish state in 2013. When speaking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in an interview with The Forward, Oz said "It’s not black and white. The ultimate solution will be driven by financial means. Peace is an imperative for that. When people love their children so much, they’ll do whatever it takes to make their future brighter." In 2022, Oz said that Israel is "an ally and a vibrant democracy in the world’s most troubled region" and that he opposes the BDS Movement, supports keeping the US Embassy in Jerusalem and supports continued military aid to Israel."
I'm always worried that a person will change their mind once they have declared backing of either Jews or Israel, and that it's strictly a political swaying statement and not from the heart. In his campaign, he has called for immunologist Anthony Fauci, the Chief Medical Advisor to the President, to be fired and also opposed vaccine requirements. That sounds like a message from Trump.
"During the COVID-19 pandemic, Oz's television appearances influenced Trump's decision-making, and he became an informal advisor to the Trump administration. Oz had promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial drug, as a cure for COVID-19 on more than 25 Fox News broadcasts in March and April 2020. Trump claimed to be taking the drug in May 2020. In June 2020, the Food and Drug Administration revoked emergency use authorization of hydroxychloroquine, stating that it was "no longer reasonable to believe" that the drug was effective against COVID-19 or that its benefits outweighed "known and potential risks".
Dr. Oz with parents; father also a surgeon.
"If elected, he would be the first Muslim to serve in the U.S. Senate. In March 2022, President Joe Biden asked Oz and Herschel Walker, Black football player, to resign from their posts on the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, or be terminated. A White House official said the Biden administration does not allow federal candidates to serve on presidential boards. Herschel Walker is a former American football running back, bobsledder, and mixed martial artist. He played college football for the University of Georgia, earned consensus All-American honors three times and won the 1982 Heisman Trophy." Too bad as a heart doctor and a real athlete were a terrific combo.
If elected, wouldn't it be wonderful if he could influence THE SQUAD to become supportive of Israel? I think that's too big a miracle to even dream about.
Most of us remember Dr. Oz who was a regular guest on Oprah Winfrey's TV show. He is a former cardiothoracic surgeon and a professor emeritus at Columbia. On November 30, 2021, Oz declared that he would run in the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Pennsylvania as a Republican to succeed incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, who is retiring..
As an ordinary citizen, I think Dr. Fauci is great and support him, believe in wearing masks and see it happening for the next 5 years, at least, in a 20 year fight against COVID, of course support Israel, and are nervous of the change in Democrats that has taken place since Obama. I'm all for government support, but not a takeover. Man does not appreciate what he receives on a silver platter; he just comes to expect them. Joy comes from your own accomplishments, however so small.
