Nadene Goldfoot
Hady Amr is an American government official serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs within the U.S. Department of State. He was appointed to the role under President Joe Biden on January 20, 2021. He was born in Lebanon but much of his life has been in the USA.
In May 2021, he was sent to the Middle East to help in trying to defuse tensions between Israel and Palestine. It is May 15th today, and Jerusalem Day, the day of a huge attack coming from the Palestinians against Israel, was on Sunday, the American Mother's Day. This war has been going on for the past 6 days.
According to Erik Stakelbeck of the Youtube program, The Watchman, the Palestinians have enough rockets to last for 2 months. Israel has hit the Palestinian tunnel line under Gaza, and that includes the leaders who were in it at the time, so that should help to slow down the lobbing of rockets into Israel. The rockets fired lately have been of greater strength and ability to hit all of Israel, which really isn't saying much as Israel is so tiny, but is made up of about 8,000 sq miles. The momentum has been continuing.
He is a former economist and a consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations. He has written extensively about the impact of Palestinian uprisings and the prospects of peace in the region.
Rockets, missiles from Syria pointed at Israel-going on for years
Reports from the war are that several of the rockets fired into Israel have been aimed from Lebanon. They, as well as Syria, have stockpiled rockets to use against Israel. This has been going on for years.
That's all very nice, but I believe that it takes someone to know and have rubbed shoulders with both Israelis and Palestinians to really understand what triggered this offense. Hady Amr, on February 4, 2021 said, "I was inspired by the Palestinian intifada.:" Hady Amr wrote this a year after Sept. 11, 2001, discussing his work as the national coordinator of the anti-Israel Middle East Justice Network.
The UN has its own agenda since its original inception. This is not a plus on Hady's resume in my opinion if he is still in step with their attitudes towards Israel. Israel is always the bad guy according to results from the UN for years. In fact, being associated with the UN in this matter, unless it was Nikki Haley, frightens me. Why couldn't he have selected Nikki? She REALLY understands the situation.
A report on the meeting which, by the way, is taking place on Israel's birthday which is May 14, 1948. Israel is 73 years old, (younger than me-Nadene). MS PORTER: Let me just start off by saying that we remain deeply concerned about the current violence, and we are working towards achieving a sustainable calm. We are – when it comes to your question about Deputy Assistant Secretary Amr, he is in Israel and the West Bank to engage with senior Israeli and Palestinian officials. As you know that Amr has decades of experience in this issue. His trip is a part of an ongoing high level engagements by senior U.S. officials on these critical issues. But while he’s there, he’ll reinforce our message that we have stressed in many senior level engagements with the parties and other stakeholders this past week, which of course namely achieving a sustainable calm." (I imagine this refers to MS Katie Porter, On April 20, 2021, Porter announced her support for Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal, reversing her lack of support from the previous Congress." )
Amr has accused Israel of ethnic cleansing. That's not a good sign. He also accuses Israel of apartheid. I have a feeling he's already going to find fault with Israel for the USA, no matter if all the people suddenly show up with halos above their heads. He's not a person setting out to be fair. Is this really what Biden goes along with?
As if Israel isn't striving for this result, but I say, more than that because they do not want a repetition again. Is the past 7 years prophetic or what? The number 7 plays so much a part of the history; 7 days in a week, the 7th being Shabbat, etc... Israel has several plans; plan for situation A, B, C, you name it. I do believe they know what and why they are doing in this. It isn't like they're going half-cocked out of their minds retaliating blindly. From what I just heard about hitting the tunnels and tricking Hamas with their announcement of going in with a unit of 9,000 troops, and then hitting the tunnels reminds me of how they handled many a battle in the battle. I was pleased to find out that West Point, or a school similar to it, had a class studying the battles from the bible. Who knew? Well, perhaps Biden, like me, doesn't know that, either. But folks, I met the teacher of that class!!
Nimrata Nikki Haley is an American politician, diplomat, businesswoman, and author who served as the 116th and first female governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and as the 29th United States ambassador to the United Nations for almost two years, from January 2017 to December 2018. Her parents were from Punjab, India while she was born in South Carolina. She's a Republican, so would not be eligible for the job, any job with the Democrats, I fear. Too bad, because she's more capable than 10 others put together. This lady stood up for Israel and was not shy about it. She was forceful, dynamic and made such common sense. " She strongly defended Israel at the Security Council and led the effort to withdraw the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council. She voluntarily stepped down on December 31, 2018."
Joey Hood was the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. Mr. Hood has spent most of his career working in the Middle East, and particularly on the Arabian Peninsula, also serving from January 20, 2021. According to Wikipedia, The bureau was currently led by Joey Hood, a career diplomat serving as the Acting Assistant Secretary. From June 5, 2019, to January 20, 2021. That period would have been under Trump. Joey, being from Mississippi, wouldn't have known much about Jews being there were only 1,525 left in all of Mississipi in 2020.
Being a Republican, he has been replaced. "Joey Hood is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from Ackerman, Mississippi. Hood attended the French Camp Academy in French Camp, Mississippi and received a history and political science degree from Mississippi State University." Trump also had his son in law, Jared Kushner, a Modern Othodox Jew, in Israel also playing a part in Israel-American relations.
The bureau was led by Assistant Secretary David Schenker. He was preceded by David Satterfield (acting). See Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs for the list of all incumbents.
On August 24, 1992, the Bureau of Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs divided into a separate Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and a Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. At that time, Edward Djerejian became Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs; he was also concurrently Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs until May 30, 1993.
