2017 Scene of Wanting Trump Impeached by Democrats

 Democrats have been speaking of impeaching Trump since he took office in 2017.  The reason seems to be the shock of Hillary Clinton not winning the Presidential seat but losing to Donald Trump.  They thought it was in the bag for Hillary and are not accepting the fact.

None of this has been brought out in the trial taking place now and shown on TV of Trump's final impeachment process.  At this point the Democrats are speaking through Adam Schiff of the reasoning being his telephone call to the new president, Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine,  and asking about looking into the history of Joe Biden and his connections.  Biden is one of the Democrats now running for the presidential office in 2020.  He would be running against Trump.  Joe's son is on the board of a company in Ukraine.

 The contention is that the Democrats have been looking at gafs of Trump as impeachable possibilities and due to the next 4 year election period nearby, felt the need to find something quickly.  Thus, today's impeachment trial.

On September 24, 2019, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced that six committees would undertake formal impeachment inquiries after reports about controversial interactions between Trump and the country of Ukraine, thus the trial we follow today.

  • Nadene Goldfoot May 17, 2017: Washington (CNN)Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump Wednesday morning, the first member of Congress to officially request leveling charges against the President from the House floor.

    "This is about my position. This is about what I believe. And this is where I stand. I will not be moved. The President must be impeached," Green said on the floor. "For those who do not know, impeachment does not mean that the President would be found guilty. It simply means that the House of Representatives will bring charges against the President. It's similar to an indictment but not quite the same thing."

Res. 438) against President Donald J. Trump for High Crimes and Misdemeanors. The Article is based on Article 1, dealing with “Obstruction of Justice,” which was passed by the Judiciary Committee on a bipartisan vote on July 27, 1974, regarding Richard M. Nixon. Sherman circulated a draft Article on June 12, 2017, and has been conferring with colleagues and legal experts from around the country since then.

Update: 1/23/2020 House Intelligence Commitee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is again under fire after apparently mischaracterizing evidence in the Democrats' impeachment effort -- this time after he apparently confused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with Burisma Holdings founder Mykola Zlochevsky. " He's 53 years old and was born in Kiev, Ukraine.
