I am proud to say that "On 5 December 1949, Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, proclaimed Jerusalem as Israel's capital. After all, Israel was proclaimed a state on May 14, 1948. Ben Gurion had waited for 1 year, 6 months and 21 days to make that pronouncement.
Since then all branches of the Israeli government—legislative, judicial, and executive—have resided there, except for the Ministry of Defense, located at HaKirya in Tel Aviv. At the time of the proclamation, Jerusalem was divided between Israel and Jordan and thus only West Jerusalem was proclaimed Israel's capital."
In July 1980, which was 35 years ago, Israel passed the Jerusalem Law as Basic Law. This was after fighting for their life against all odds in the 67 War. They waited for 13 years before they did this. The law declared Jerusalem the "complete and united" capital of Israel. The "Basic Law: Jerusalem, Capital of Israel" is a main reason for the international community not to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 478 on 20 August 1980, which declared that the Basic Law is "a violation of international law", is "null and void and must be rescinded forthwith" Notice that this came from the United Nations which is not the Law and Order of Israel or the United States or of anyone else. They may suggest, but they do not have the authority to carry out any punative measures. The UN has been heavy with anti-Semitic anti-Israel Arabs who are wielding a lot of power through oil and money and vocal chords, that is all.
Every country in the world has cow-towed to this resolution against Israel except the brave little Central American states of Guatemala and El Salvador who recognize Jerusalem as the capital.
President John Tyler appointed the first U.S. consul to Jerusalem in 1844. A permanent consular presence was established in 1857, in a building just inside the Jaffa Gate in the Old City. That building today houses the Swedish Christian Study Center.
Yet, the USA consulate for the Palestinians in Jerusalem is arming Palestinian guards in
breach of Israeli law. Ignoring Israeli law, the U.S. consulate’s chief security officer
is arming 35 Palestinian security guards, prompting the Israeli guards, who resigned in protest.
This is different from Israel ignoring the resolution from the UN. This is a nation's law. We have been at war with the Arabs, sadly, since our conception in 1948, and arming our enemies who happen to be living in our capital is the worst thing imaginable. Our own Israeli guards were not armed. Why are they arming them and breaking our law?

Legislation is opening salvo as Republican lawmakers look to use Congress to challenge Obama’s foreign policy. Senators Dean Heller (R-NV) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) ushered in the new congressional session by proposing legislation Tuesday to force the Obama administration to change longstanding US policy and move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
This may be why suddenly the Palestinian "guards" are being armed. It's to get even with the Senators to dare to write such a bill long passed up every 6 months.

Evidently
the USA doesn't mind being in Jerusalem for the Arabs' welfare, but not for
Israel. They still have their offices in Tel Aviv in the act of not recognizing Jerusalem
as our capital.
Ambassador Daniel B. Shapiro arrived in Israel on July 21, 2011. Before arriving in Tel Aviv, Ambassador Shapiro was Senior Director for the Middle East and North Africa on the National Security Staff at the White House, where he advised President Obama and other senior U.S. officials on all aspects of U.S. policy in the region. Prior to serving in the White House, he was Senior Policy Adviser for the Obama for America presidential campaign. He advised the campaign on Middle East policy and led then-Senator Obama's visit to Israel in July 2008. Shapiro is also from Illinois, where Obama was from.
"Michael Ratney arrived in Jerusalem on July 29, 2012, the 50th American diplomat to lead this mission since the United States established a permanent diplomatic presence here in 1857.
Many see that a Senate bill seeks to force the American embassy to move to Jerusalem. Will the consulate guards remain armed?

"Technically, an Embassy is where an "Ambassador" is based. As there can only be one Ambassador for a specific country, there can only be (at most) one Embassy. As the Ambassador is the highest ranking representative of that foreign government, the Embassy is thus also deemed to be the highest level of representative location.
A consulate is similar, but generally deemed to be a lower ranking due to the lack of an Ambassador. Consulates will generally be smaller - often being more like an office where the embassy often doubles as the actual residence for the Ambassador and/or some of his staff. In some cases consulates may be slower to process requests as they may simply pass them onto the Embassy rather than doing them themselves."
The Embassy of the United States of America to Israel has been located on HaYarkon Street in Tel Aviv since the late 60's.
The Embassy is responsible for the extensive US-Israel Bi-lateral relationship. Our current relationship is built upon commercial/industrial, political, military, trade, and cultural ties. These connections are both private and official and reflect shared history and values.
"Michael Ratney arrived in Jerusalem on July 29, 2012, the 50th American diplomat to lead this mission since the United States established a permanent diplomatic presence here in 1857.
Before assuming his duties in Jerusalem, Consul General Ratney was Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Media and, prior to that, spokesman for the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs."
The Palestinians cannot claim east Jerusalem as their capital. It is Israel's. The consul does not belong in east Jerusalem as this gives the nod that they can have ownership of it. This is truly a political move which will only induce more terrorism. Not only is this a slap in the face to Israel, the 2nd one already as the first was in stopping arms shipment in July, but it is breaking the law of the land.
"The U.S. Congress sought to reverse this travesty with the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, passed by overwhelming bipartisan majority in both the House and Senate. The act states that “Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel and the United States Embassy in Israel should be established in Jerusalem no later than May 31, 1999.”
Since then, a parade of U.S. presidents have promised to uphold this pledge. But since the congressional act allows the President to implement a waiver at six-month intervals, that’s exactly what has happened every six months since 1995. " Every president has been too chicken to lead the way at go against the Arabs in the United Nations.
Obama's goal in life is to promote Islam and not to go against it, so he sure isn't becoming the leader in this recognition. "The Obama administration is more concerned with people who are afraid of radical Islamic terrorism, and less concerned with the radical Islamic terrorists striking fear into the hearts of people across the globe" and what they do to cause that fear like behead people, etc. He of all people is not about to provoke Arabs over Jerusalem being Israel's capital.
6 Times the White House Said Its Job Was to Promote ISLAM.
The way I read it on facebook yesterday was that Obama said he was busy promoting Islam, but now I read that John Kerry wants to promote real Islam to battle ISIS. Listening to CNN last night told the viewers what words are not allowed to be used in his offices. Even Ron Paul, who wasn't too excited over Israel during the last election where Obama won again, has said, "“If Israel wants their capital to be Jerusalem, then the United States should honor that. How would we like it if some other nation said, ‘We decided to recognize New York City as your capital instead, so we will build our embassy there’?”
