Hong Kong's Accusation of China As Birth of COVID 19

We were told originally that COVID 19 started in a Wuhan lab in China. 176 million people world-wide have come down with this flu-virus.  3.8 million have died from it, especially the elderly.   Before we get into it, look at the background where the accuser, a virologist came from, and that was Hong Kong.  She said the virus came from China, which is Hong Kong's political enemy.  Look at the countries history, first.  Since 1997, Hong Kong has been a part of China under the "one country, two systems" approach.                                                      

Here is how China views the island of Hong Kong, a part of China in the map above.  China now claims Hong Kong.  Mainland authorities have made multiple attempts to abduct people in Hong Kong to bring them to the mainland, starting in 2015.                                                                        

Hong Kong  and China have not gotten along for some time.  Hong Kong was originally ruled by China up to the Qing dynasty in 1842 when the Treaty of Nanking ceded the island to the British Empire and later expanded to include the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 after the Second Opium War and later by the Convention for the Extension of Hong Kong Territory in 1898 to lease the New Territories. From 1941 to 1945, it was occupied by the Japanese Empire.I

They call the shots if matters are true or not.  Here we go.                                                           

Hong Kong virologist,Dr. Yan Limeng aka Dr. Li-Meng Yan was cited in September 15, 2020 in a Fox News interview by Tucker Carlson on Tonight, where she had said that she has "solid scientific evidence that COVID-19 virus, the disease caused by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) did not originate naturally from nature.  She accused the origin of this virus to have come from a lab.  She also claimed in the interview that the virus was intentionally released by the Chinese regime.  Without any elaboration, Yan said the virus's genome indicates that it was modified.  

Over the next six-and-a-half minutes, Yan, a virologist and former postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong, explained that the Chinese government created the coronavirus in a Wuhan lab and released it intentionally. The virus’ genome, she said, indicates that it was modified. She accused the Chinese Communist Party of silencing those who claim otherwise.                                       

"The coronavirus pandemic has touched the life of every American. And justifiably, people want to know where it came from. But Facebook still doesn’t want you to know that. So Facebook suppressed the video, presumably on behalf of the Chinese government. Facebook executives made it harder for users to watch our segment. Those who found the video had to navigate a warning that the interview 'repeats information about COVID-19 that independent fact-checkers say is false," he added.

"It’s hard to be shocked in a moment like this, but you have succeeded in shocking me," Carlson said at the end of the interview. "Unfortunately, this is not the forum for the details of your research; I don’t have the grounding necessary to ask you the right questions." 

"Scientists did, so the story continues. The consensus of the scientific community and international public health organizations is that the coronavirus emerged from bats and later jumped to humans."  The accusation was scrubbed against China.  Bats were the culprit.  

All this was done on Fox News which is the bad TV station in the eyes of many who differ politically from all the other stations and present another way to look at our politics.  I fear that if it came from CNN, it would not even been checked with PolitiFact.  Now, whether PolitiFact stands alone or is also pulled by the tide in the popular direction is another consideration.  How much pressure they experience is a good question.  

As I remember, the Trump office also announced her findings.  A terrible backlash against China and Chinese people in the USA was the result.

Originally described as a set of pneumonia-like symptoms with a hitherto unseen cause, a set of alarming facts soon came to light. A novel virus — now known to be SARS-CoV-2 — had begun infecting humans, with the first major outbreak stemming from a wet market in Wuhan: the largest city by far in the Chinese province of Hubei. The next pandemic, just as virologists and disease ecologists had been predicting for years, emerged from the continued encroachment of human civilization on territory previously inhabited solely by wild animals. Human-animal contact, responsible for pandemics ranging from SARS to MERS to Ebola to HIV, was almost certainly the culprit in bringing this novel coronavirus into the human population as well."  That's what people were told.  

                                                                       

"The reason I came to the U.S. is because I deliver the message of the truth of COVID," she told Fox News from an undisclosed location.  She added that if she tried to tell her story in China, she "will be disappeared and killed."

What has happened to Hong Kong's virologist?  She fled China and immigrated to the USA after studying the early outbreak of COVID-19 and has published a new report claiming the coronavirus likely came from a lab.  Doctor Li-Meng Yan, a scientist who studied some of the available data on COVID-19 has published her claims on Zenodo, an open access digital platform. She wrote that she believed COVID-19 could have been “conveniently created” within a lab setting over a period of just six months, and “SARS-CoV-2 shows biological characteristics that are inconsistent with a naturally occurring, zoonotic virus”. “The natural origin theory, although widely accepted, lacks substantial support,” Dr Yan writes in the report.“The alternative theory that the virus may have come from a research laboratory is, however, strictly censored on peer-reviewed scientific journals. Nonetheless, SARS-CoV-2 shows biological characteristics that are inconsistent with a naturally occurring, zoonotic virus.”

Good for her!  She, a female scientist, wasn't scared off.  She held to her beliefs and published.  Now it's up to other virologists to either back her or prove her wrong.  They'll have to have backbone and not be frightened of political persuasions.  Isn't that a terrible thing to happen to scientists today?  So much to say for our society and what it's come to.  

n 1972, after the change of the Chinese seat in the United Nations, the People's Republic of China, established in 1949 after the lengthy civil war, demanded that Hong Kong be removed from the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories, thus depriving Hong Kong of its right to independence. The Sino-British Joint Declaration of December 1984 laid out the terms for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to the PRC, which concluded with a special handover ceremony on 1 July 1997.

                                              

Hong Kong has more international cultural values from its past as a British colony and international city, and at the same time has retained many traditional Chinese cultural values, putting it in stark contrast to the culture of many parts of mainland China, where many international cultural values have never taken root and where many traditional cultural values were done away with following the Cultural Revolution.  The conflict relates to issues regarding the allocation of resources between mainlanders and Hong Kong people in different sectors, such as healthcare and education.

Hong Kong has been a separate entity, governing themselves.  It had been a British crown colony in southern China. 

                                                 

                        Sassoon Family

 Jews arrived there after the British conquest in 1842.  They have been prominent in banking and mercantile life.  Notable Jewish families include the SASSOONS and the KADOURIES..  The Jewish population in 1990 was 700, mostly of Iraqi and European origin.  

Jews have lived in China probably came from Persia in about the year 1,000.  Their main community at Kai Feng Fu became completely assimilated to Chinese customs and mores, virtually disappearing at the end of the 18th century.  

In the middle of the 19th century, Jews, mainly stemming from Baghdad and associated with the Sassoon family business, set up Sephardi communities in Hong Kong and Shanghai.  The latter flourished especially between World Wars I and II, when it absorbed large numbers first of Russian, and then of German refugees.  Russian Jews, moreover, founded communities in Peking, The old pot is calling the kettle black in that a country that practices kidnapping is backing  moral and national education (MNE) to be taught in Hong Kong, which is a school curriculum proposed by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong, transformed from the current moral and civic education (MCE),. The Hong Kong government attempted to pass the curriculum in 2012, which led to protests. The subject was particularly controversial for praising the communist and nationalist ideology of China's government on the one hand, and condemning democracy and republicanism on the other.  It's not like Hong Kong to believe in this,  sounding more like China.                                               

On 26 May 2015, Gu Zhuoheng, owner of Sing Pao Daily News, was almost abducted by mainland authorities after landing at Hong Kong International Airport. While at the Regal Hotel, Gu said that more than 20 mainland authorities with firearms attempted to extradite him to the mainland; Gu resisted until hotel security guards called airport police to assist him. Hong Kong police confirmed the incident and then released the suspects due to "insufficient evidence."

Lee Bo, a staff member of Causeway Bay Books, was abducted several months later in December 2015 and brought to Shenzhen. The Hong Kong Immigration Department has no record of Lee having left Hong Kong, meaning he was brought across the border without going through normal border control.

In another incident about a year later in January 2017, Xiao Jianhua, a businessman, was abducted from the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong and brought to the mainland.
