All About Manna, that Food Eaten for 40 Years on Exodus

 Nadene Goldfoot

"During the journey the Israelites murmured because of a lack of food. The Lord blessed them with manna(Exod.16:4-35)  and instructed them to gather it every morning except on the Sabbath. The children of Israel also murmured because of thirst. The Lord commanded Moses to strike a rock in Horeb so that water would come forth".
“God said you may gather as much manna as you need for your families—about three quarts for each person. But,” Moses warned, “don't keep ANY leftovers! Eat all you have gathered.

On the sixth day you must get enough for TWO days because God said there won’t be any manna on the seventh day.” Moses knew God was going to test the people to see if they would listen and follow His instructions.
Leaving Goshen of Egypt where Israelite slaves  lived;  In the South, Mt Sinai and Mt. Horeb

It was thin and rough, white in color, and tasted like honey-cake.  As a memorial, a jar of it was placed permanently before the Sanctuary.

Manna was formerly believed to be a shallow-rooted plant carried by storms;  modern botanists have discovered sugar secretions on the tamarix mammifera caused by insects.  According to the aggadah, manna existed from the 1st Sabbath eve of creation (Avot 5:9).  How could it have mattered then on the Exodus?  I'd rather believe it was something new to them as it was, a heavenly food-food from outer space.

The people didn't follow the rules and what happened?  People had left-overs until morning and it became infested with worms and it stank;  They then gathered it morning by morning according to how much they would be able to eat, following directions,  and when the sun grew hot it melted !

Our sages write that manna was heavenly food, and that G-d would provide for His children.  On the 6th day they had to gather a double portion.  They gathered their normal daily portion, but when they came home they saw that they had 2 omer per capita.  The princes (leaders of the tribes) reported this irregularity to Moses.  The new rule they had just learned was that they had a day of rest-no work- on Saturday (Shabbat) that started from Sundown Friday night lasting to 3 stars in the sky Saturday night.  Yes, there it was so easy to see stars-no city lights hiding a lovely view.
About1,000 years ago in 1080, our rabbis studied the Torah together

Obviously, he had not instructed the people to gather a double portion every Friday;  this was a sin of omission on Moses' part--so saying so was RASHI-rabbi Solomon Yitzhaki ben Isaac, French scholar (1040-1105), biblical commentator.  Everything written in the Torah was hashed over, discussed, debated, tested, weighed,  by intellectual rabbis of long ago.  The Rhineland was a major place that this took place in towns like Worms.
Coriander Seeds--
Coriander Coriandrum sativum), also known as cilantro  is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. All parts of the plant are edible, but the fresh leaves and the dried seeds are the parts most traditionally used in cooking.

Most people perceive coriander as having a tart, lemon/lime taste, but to some individuals the leaves taste like dish soap. The perception of a soapy taste in certain aldehydes is linked to variations in the gene OR6A2.

Now, the manna was like coriander seed and its color was like the color of the bedolach.  The people would stroll and gather it, and grind it in a mill or pound it in a mortar and cook it in a pot or make it into cakes, and it tasted like the taste of dough kneaded with oil.  when the dew descended upon the camp at night, the manna would descend upon it.

The word, bedolach:  Bdellium (also bdellion or false myrrh) is a semi-transparent oleo-gum resin extracted from Commiphora wightii plants of India, and from Commiphora africana trees growing in sub-saharan Africa. According to Pliny the best quality came from Bactria. Other named sources for the resin are India, ArabiaMedia, and Babylon.

Something that grew in the area that Abram and Moses had come from, The name is listed in the Torah.
All this took place in a place called Taberah, meaning the place of conflagration as the people were remembering food they had in Egypt and were complaining.

Moses himself was even complaining to G-d about food for this gigantic trek.  "Where shall I get meat to give to this entire people when they weep to me begging for it?  I alone cannot carry this entire nation, for it is too heavy for me!  And if this is how You deal with me, then kill me now, if I have found favor in Your eyes, and let me not see my evil!"

Because they had complained so, Moses was given new instructions.  They will eat meat for a month until it comes out of your nose, nauseates you.  Moses was leading 600,000 foot-soldiers.  Moses was to have sheep and cattle slaughtered, fish gathered for them, and so Moses gathered 70 men from among the elders of the people who were to stand around the Tent.

The people gathered up  quail---This place was called Kibroth-Hattaavah, because there they buried people who had been craving...craving for meat.  (vegans pay attention because it's not easy for many to switch over).  From here they moved onto Hazeroth, remaining there for a while.
Notice:  place names were given in Torah, vetting the experience as real.  They didn't have the imagination to make up all this food from heaven business...to explain eating on a trek with 6 hundred thousand people.

In the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp and when it rose, the surface of the land had something thin left on it, exposed--thin as frost on the earth...and the people thought it might be food.  Then they were told to gather it, and how much for each person?  They were to take according to what he eats;  an omer per person--according to the number of your people, everyone according to whomever is in his tent shall you take.   In traditional Jewish standards of measurement, the omer was equivalent to the volume of 43.2 chicken's eggs, or what is also known as one-tenth of an ephah (three seahs). In dry weight, the omer weighed between 1.56–1.77 kg (3.4–3.9 lb), being the quantity of flour required to separate therefrom the dough offering.

Very clever;  they were forced to pig-out on meat-of course none from a pig-for a month to condition them to not want any more and accept the vegan quality of life before them eating Manna, a special food obviously with all the nutrients necessary for life;  space food our astronauts must have munched on.   No, people then couldn't have imagined as a situation.

This was written by Moses...and his source was amazing, a man born in about 1391 BCE and died 120 years later in1271 BCE.  He was the son of Amram, son of Kohath, son of Levi who is also listed as father of Jochebed, who was the wife of Amram and mother of Moses, Aaron and Miriam.  Moses's grandfather was Kohath.  He would have heard stories...many family stories.
Shuttle pilot Kevin Ford displays his creation, a “peanut butter popsicle,” made of a tortilla, some peanut butter and a butter knife to control it. Astronauts took a video of the concoction on Sept. 8, 2009 during the STS-128 mission. It's their Space Burrito, they said.  All this food is quite normal, only meant to exist in different gravitational pulls.  Manna had to exist an outside environment in a new gravitational pull of Earth.

Our NASA astronauts :"Astronauts eat three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nutritionists ensure the food astronauts eat provides them with a balanced supply of vitamins and minerals. Calorie requirements differ for astronauts. For instance, a small woman would require only about 1,900 calories a day, while a large man would require about 3,200 calories. An astronaut can choose from many types of foods such as fruits, nuts, peanut butter, chicken, beef, seafood, candy, brownies, etc. Available drinks include coffee, tea, orange juice, fruit punches and lemonade.

Could the same food feed the needs of people stuck on planet Earth? We conducted an experiment to find out how well two regular people could get by eating only astronaut food for a full week—a week that included a holiday weekend feast, just to up the difficulty factor. Could they resist the lure of their favorite foods? Take a look at how they fared…

As on Earth, space food comes in disposable packages. Astronauts must throw their packages away when they have finished eating. Some packaging actually prevents food from flying away. The food packaging is designed to be flexible and easier to use, as well as to maximize space when stowing or disposing of food containers.
July 26, 2023: David Grusch testifies before the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs in the hearing titled "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency".

David Charles Grusch is a decorated Afghanistan combat veteran and former Air Force intelligence officer who worked in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). From 2019 to 2021, he was the representative of the NRO to the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force. From late 2021 to July 2022, he was the co-lead for UAP analysis at the NGA and its representative to the task force. He assisted in drafting the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023, which includes provisions for reporting of UFOs, including whistleblower protections and exemptions to non-disclosure orders and agreements. Congressional interest in UFO sightings immediately prior to Grusch's public claims surrounded questions about the four objects that the Air Force shot down in February 2023.

In July 2023 testimony given to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, Grusch repeated some of his claims under oath, alongside testimony from retired U.S. fighter pilot Ryan Graves and retired U.S. Navy commander David Fravor on their personal experiences related to UFOs. Grusch testified that he could not elaborate publicly on some aspects of his claims, but offered to provide further details to representatives in a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF).

He claims that non-humans were also found in some wreckage of UAPs.
This is why I can imagine that there is credence to believe that we have not been alone.
