The one good thing that impresses me is that Donald Trump backed Israel when other presidents had spoke of doing it but never did, and that was to recognize Jerusalem and to recognize the Golan Heights as being part of Israel. To top it off, he even moved the USA Embassy to Jerusalem. Then he even negotiated with five Muslim-majority nations to normalize relations with the Jewish state, and the Abraham Accords appeared with his help. Jews have waited for that recognition since 70 CE for the past 1,951 years by praying three times a day to see this happen. These were most appreciate and remarkable moves on his part, but no doubt caused by words from his son-in-law, Jerad Kushner. Donald most likely saw it as a way to garner more votes, more admirers.
I know what Trump has been like otherwise, and I, too, have gone through shock and disappointment. He did this one good act in his life, and then of course, he has muddled it. His goals were not in doing good deeds but in self-preserving acts such as always being in the lime-light, eliciting votes from everyone to be the US president, and staying in that position, maybe for life, who knows. His main goal has been to be the center of attention.
He certainly did everything wrong, not just wrong but against all laws in trying to stay another term. He has acted not presidential but more like when he was a 4 years old child.
Alan Dershowitz, lawyer and historian, knows Donald Trump very well. Alan has the history of being asked to speak in public libraries about his many books, but now, because of Donald Trump's behaviors and Alan defending him where he's been defendable, is no longer welcome at one, at least, in Martha's Vineyard.

Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, had lots of integrity.
Integrity means: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Trump has now lost that privilege of hearing-"he is known to be a man of integrity." He'll be forever facing the consequences of having lost them, whatever they may be.
Alan has been so sure of our rights as citizens that he has used this background in defending people who have been in trouble with the law. He's at his best when he is arguing a case. Not everyone has the backbone to stand up for rights of others. Very few have stood up for Israel in a world full of the virus of anti-Semitism.
This world has faced hatred and death from the days even before Hitler with Haman in Persia and now with the Ayatollahs in Iran. Hitler caused 6 million to die because of being Jewish by the year 1945. It's taken Israel of today to reach that number with the Jews living there.
Donald took the big risk in defending Israel but most likely didn't see it that way as being risky. Alan has taken big risks in defending people, snug in the protection of what he knows about the law. How many of us would ever risk what we have for a greater good? Donald's head was all muddled when he took the big risk of breaking laws that a president should never ever do.
Donald could have rested easy on his laurels for life, basking in the sun for the good he did Israel, knowing he'd go down in history books forever for the good deed he did when others couldn't bring themselves to do it. But...he put his foot into it, couldn't leave his one good term. It's sad. He's ruined his risky reputation as it was, a reputation already full of a tainted life. Israel was making a mentch, a man of him.
As I look at it, he was what we needed. Someone with the gall to take the big risk and back Israel like Harry Truman, our 33rd president, had done during his 2 terms from 1945 to 1953 by recognizing Israel as a state. Harry had a good Jewish friend and partner in business, and his anti-Semite peers in Washington did not win by changing his mind from backing Israel.
Donald was the one who broke the mold-for sure-in many ways, and backed Israel, and it's taken the past 76 years to get to him. Donald became president by a fluke, running against Hillary Clinton, and went out by his own acts. Even she never could accept the fact that he was president, but she didn't break the laws in trying to remain in that chair. Al Gore lost by only a handful of votes, and his behavior was manly and American, truly an example of behavior for Trump to follow. I don't think Trump was aware of anything other than trying to stay in office in some devious illegal manner, though. Too bad.
