Life Under Rocket Attack

Nadene Goldfoot

The IDF (Israeli Defense Force / Israeli Army) has a video on U Tube.  Take the 2 minutes time to view it.  It has English translation.  http://www.youtube.com/user/idfnadesk

You have 15 seconds to run for cover.  Not all make it.  Southern Israel has suffered from excessive fear for far too long.  The 2 minute video  shows  individual stories of how people in Israel died from rocket fire or how their homes were destroyed.  All suffer from PTSD from the mildly affected to most serious.

That people are still there living under these horrendous conditions attests to their seriousness in keeping Israel.  At any rate, Israel is too small to find another safe place to live.  It's all under fire by an irrational people who believe in killing one's neighbor because they are Jewish.

It's truly a miracle that Israel hasn't had more lives lost, but it calls for a bomb shelter in every apartment building.  Schools have a bomb shelter to go to also, but southern Israel needs more.    I was in one in Safed's junior high  in the northern Galilee.

If you happen to be a child in school and the warning comes and everyone plunges into the shelter, there is not much learning after the all clear.  It takes a while for one's heart to start beating normally again or that your mind can concentrate.  The bombardment started in 2001.  A 12 year old child has known nothing more.
