Brigadier General Dan Goldfuss of Israel

 Nadene Goldfoot

Dan Goldfuss (Hebrewדן גולדפוס; born December 28, 1976) is an Israeli Brigadier general (Tat-Aluf) who commands the Fire Formation (98th Paratroopers Division).  He is 47 years old.  Goldfuss was born and raised in Jerusalem. His parents were South African Jews, like Stanley Goldfoot who was The Chief of Intelligence for the Stern Group born in 1908 in South Africa but with family from Lithuania.   Dan grew up religious but became more secular later in life.  So did Stanley.  Goldfuss has a wife and four children. He has earned a bachelor's degree in politics, government and Middle Eastern studies from the Reichman University, and a master's degree in political science from the University of Haifa. Dan previously served as Commander of Gadsar NahalShayetet 13931st Onyx Battalion, and Nahal BrigadeInfantry Corps.

During the 2023 Israel–Hamas war he commanded the 98th Paratroopers Division to establish operational control over key areas of the Southern Gaza Strip, most notably Khan Yunis.

(Khan Yunis  is a city in the southern Gaza Strip; it is the capital of the Khan Yunis Governorate in the Gaza Strip.  According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Khan Yunis had a population of 205,125 in 2017. Khan Yunis, which lies only four kilometres

12 miles) east of the Mediterranean Sea, has a semi-arid climate with temperature of 30 °C maximum in summer and 10 °C minimum in winter, with an annual rainfall of approximately 260 mm (10.2 in).)

In a statement he gave in Gaza strip, on March 2024, Goldfuss called for Israel's leaders to be 'worthy of the reservists who did not care what side they were from, and fought side by side.'

Goldfus addressed “both sides” of Israel’s political leadership after a prepared and approved statement to the press on Wednesday, telling them that the military would “not run away from responsibility,” and that they must push away extremism.  The commander had raised eyebrows when he said politicians “need to be worthy of us. You need to be worthy of the soldiers who lost their lives. You need to be worthy of the reservists who don’t care what [political] side they are on, and fought and fight alongside each other.”
