How USA Has Really Dealt With Jerusalem: Shocking

 By Ted Belman

Nadene Goldfoot

Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary's would not admit that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel!  It's always been the capital to Jews, even before 1948;  ever since King David reigned back in 1010 BCE- for the past 3,033 years, whether or not that news made it into the USA government manuals or not.

Jay Carney keeps mum about Jerusalem's status other than just another city in Israel --His knowledge of Jerusalem's history is nil. His expertise lies in Eastern Europe and Russian history. He  "earned a bachelor's degree in Russian and Eastern European studies from Yale University in 1987."  These are the areas of highly active anti-Semitism.

I have decided to use Ted Belman's comments found in an article from The Times of Israel in 2012 as my reference as he has disclosed facts not realized by me.  It deserves thought and consideration, enough to reevaluate the USA's true position.

U.S. President Harry S. Truman in the Oval Office, receiving a Menorah as a gift from the Prime Minister of Israel, David Ben-Gurion (center). To the right is Abba Eban, the Ambassador of Israel to the United States.

We always thought that Truman's positive attitude towards an Israel again in the world permeated the rest of our country.  Evidently not.  The government is at odds over East Jerusalem, the area where the Muslims have a large population.  We do realize that Truman's advisors tried to prevent him from recognizing Israel in the first place in 48.

Netanyahu has had this same problem with the BBC.  The BBC came under fire recently from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for refusing to list Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The news outlet eventually listed the city as Israel’s “seat of government.”  How condescending of them!  They couldn't use the words, "capital."

He says that in the past 60 years, and this was posted on YouTube, the USA has used its efforts to keep Israel from having sovereignty of Jerusalem, even declaring it to be its capital.  He says this could be to show deference to their oil lobby.  The USA government disregards the fact right in the Bible for vetting purposes that Jerusalem had been the capital of Israel, then Judea which again since 1948 has been renamed as Israel.  Jerusalem, also referred to as Zion, is mentioned over 700 times in the Torah (5 books of Moses or first five sections of the Old Testament:  Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.  Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran.  Jerusalem is the heart and soul of our religion.  Our fathers have been praying 3 times a day for the past 2,000 years for the return of Jerusalem.

Jay couldn't even acknowledge that the western section of Jerusalem was even in Israel!  Israel won a bloody war from 1947 to 1949 proving that Jerusalem was no longer in Jordan's hands but in Israel which was declared to be a state on May 14, 1948.

However, Mitt Romney, Utah's Senator, acknowledged the fact. Palestinian leaders expressed offence and outrage at comments by  Mitt Romney during his lightning visit to Israel, in which he said the Jewish state's economic success compared with its Palestinian neighbours was due to  "cultural" differences and the "hand of providence", and declared Jerusalem to be  "the capital of Israel".

This was during Obama's administration and Romney was a presidential candidate at the time.  The White House spokesman, Josh Earnest said that previous administrations both sides, held the position that Jay Carney said. He said the Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan disagree with Romney.  Their position must be that eastern Jerusalem and Western Jerusalem  is Not a part of Israel and that Israel has no right to any sovereignty over any part of Israel since 1967.  This is ludicrous!! Israel's position is that ever since they won the right to all of Jerusalem since 1967's war which they won, they have this right of reclaiming all of Jerusalem.  Even Professor Kontorovich agrees with Israel's governmental position.

To remember what it was like in 1947, the Jews in Palestine found themselves fighting for their lives and were immersed in what later was called their War of Independence.  6,000 Jews were killed then, more than in all the subsequent wars combined.  After the Arab armies had been driven back, a truce was called and negotiations for an armistice began.  In 1949, nobody foresaw that, instead of leading to peace, the armistice agreement with Egypt would, after 7 years, end in war in 1956 (The Sinai War) , and the agreements with Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, after remaining in force for 18 years, also end in war.

The Six Day War of 1967, though Israel won an unbelievable onslaught of many countries attacking her at once, took a miracle to be on Israel's side and help her win against all the odds.  It happened.  The outcome seems to be too shocking for the rest of the world to cope with.  That's not where they laid their money in the bet.

By the first months of 1967, as a result of an active policy of hostility towards Israel, tension grew between Syria and  Israel.  In the middle of May the tension was exploited by the then USSR.,  Egypt and Syria to produce the escalation which led to the 6 Day War.  As a result, Jordan, who was also fighting against Israel-had joined the pack, lost  the land they held which was originally Israel's both ancient-wise and in the Promise of a Jewish State by the League of Nations.  So Israel had regained their land in the process of winning the war of their lives.

The position of the US is based in part on Res 181 of the UNGA, (The Partition Plan), which was passed in 1947. The resolution recommended the creation of two states, one Arab, one Jewish, both excluding Jerusalem, which was to be a corpus separatum:

“The City of Jerusalem shall be established as a corpus separatum under a special international regime and shall be administered by the United Nations. The Trusteeship Council shall be designated to discharge the responsibilities of the Administering Authority on behalf of the United Nations.”

This corpus separatum was to remain for up to 10 years.

“After the expiration of this period the whole scheme shall be subject to examination by the Trusteeship Council in the light of experience acquired with its functioning. The residents the City shall be then free to express by means of a referendum their wishes as to possible modifications of regime of the City.”

But for this clause, Ben Gurion wouldn’t have accepted the resolution. He knew that in ten years, the Jews would be in the majority in Jerusalem and that they would vote to have Jerusalem join Israel. Pursuant to this resolution Israel declared its independence six months later.

The UN Decision:

When Israel accepted the offer but the Arabs rejected it

A United Nations Special Committee on Palestine, composed

of statesmen and jurists from 11 member States,

recommended the partitioning of Palestine into independent,

Jewish and Arab States, linked in an economic union, with

Jerusalem under international control.  On 29 November

1947,

the General Assembly approved this

recommendation

by more than the required 2/3s majority.

Both the USA and

the Soviet Union supported the resolution.  The Arabs had

their chance then and because they wanted it all, lost it.

The Arabs on the other hand, rejected this resolution and invaded Israel, only to be pushed back, as Israel, fighting for her life, acquired more territory including the western part of Jerusalem. The United Nations, led by the US, intervened before Israel could acquire even more territory and forced Israel to accept a ceasefire, and a ceasefire line, which the defeated Arabs, including Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon, were only too happy to accept. This line became known as the “green line” as it was demarcated in green on the map. At the insistence of Jordan, the Armistice Agreement provided that such line would not and did not constitute “borders”. Borders had to be agreed upon in the future.

David Ben-Gurion was the first Prime Minister of Israel and widely

hailed as the State’s main founder. Born October 16, 1886 in Poland,

died December 1, 1973 at age 87.

According to Ted, the USA tried to prevent Israel from

declaring independence, and then again were negative about a

ceasefire negotiation and worked on Israel to retreat to the

Partition lines.  David Ben Gurion refused their pressure and

designated Jerusalem as the capital of Israel!
