How American Jews on JBS See Israel and I Am Plotzing!

 Nadene Goldfoot

A young lady, Laura Adkins,  is missing from this picture.  It's not today's panel that I watched talking about Israel today but it's close.

As usual, I love to watch the panel discussions on JBS led by Rabbi Golub.  Today I feel so lucky not living in New York City on the West Side where modern Orthodox young ladies are using the term "occupation" without realizing the implications of it and how that affects Israel.

When young in Portland, Oregon at age 15, I was elected "Queen Esther" during the Purim Ball, and that was the best thing that ever happened to me.  It kept me in my later years, realizing that I was Jewish.  I had started my interest in teaching by teaching Sunday School at my Conservative Neveh Zedek Synagogue from that age, maybe even  younger.  Finally one day at age 46, I actually moved, made aliyah and moved to Israel, starting in a 10 month retraining program for teachers, having taught for 23 years already.    Having been a teacher forever, it was a natural and I took a position in Safed teaching in the junior high to 7th, 8th and 9th graders.

A winter picture:  My apartment- lived on the bottom floor, my German shepherd that I wrote about in my first book, and my new Fiat from Italy.  We picked it out from a catalog, and they called us when it was in the port.  Life was so different, one can't imagine.

The point is, I've lived in Israel.  I even voted once.  I have dual citizenship.  I've studied on my own, reading books suggested by Rabbi Rose in Portland preparing us to defend Israel when up against opponents, haters of Israel.  I even saw him walk off the stage once in desperation when up against a man who was like a dense brick wall-unthinking, a robot responding with his lies.  Wow!  When in this position, one needs to really remember their references.   I do it by writing in my blogs where I can take time finding the right references for rebuttal.  I've been a strong defender of Israel and enjoy Golub and Dershowitz and Eric Yaffe on the panel who looks a little like young Einstein with his hair-do.

I'm thankful that I haven't socialized much, being older than most people alive today, anyway.  I haven't been indoctrinated by any group think.   I can see why people like Abraham and Moses went out on the desert alone to think.  I have come to my own conclusions; not affected by the instructor but by my own research, the best available.  I feel good about coming to my own conclusions and finding that people like Rabbi Golub and Dershowitz agree with me about most things, but I don't agree with the 2 state solution.  I'd give them both an A+ for their Jewish history knowledge.

Haj Amin al-Husseini, Sherif of Jerusalem, who created attacks on Jewish citizens, went to Germany and chatted with Hitler and his other thugs about how to get rid of the Jews of Palestine.

The Palestinians have been honest,  the public have been mentally lazy.   Palestinians don't want peace with Israel.  They've let us know that they want to wipe us off the map.  That's their goal.  They worked on it with Arafat.  If the Palestinians were anything like the Canadians, it would have happened in 1968.  They've been a dangerous people, hateful, attacking, for almost 75 years now.  I'm just amazed at the world population not getting it.  Even these Jewish females on the West side are siding with the popular view going on, not even being disgusted with the 4 women of the Democrat Squad who would like to end Israel.  Is it because its a sister thing?  They're females of the same age?

     Israel has women in IDF

The environment that Jews of Israel are living in is So different than New York society.  I dare say that in Israel, their social group is the IDF that they work with while in the service.

Gaza after surrender to British forces, 1918.  Ottoman Empire held Palestine and lost WWI.  They lost the land they held.  The war ended in 1918.  "After the First World War, the League of Nations granted quasi-colonial authority over former Ottoman territories to Great Britain and France, with Gaza becoming part of the British Mandate of Palestine." They held the mandate for 30 years.

By 22 September 2005, Israel's withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip to the 1967 Green Line, and the eviction of the four settlements in Samaria, was completed.

I note that Gaza was given to the Arab Palestinians out of the goodness of Jewish hearts in September 2005 who, at the strong nudging of the Israeli government, packed up and left their businesses for the Palestinians to live and prosper like they had done.  The only catch was that they themselves had to find a new life, a new business, and new place to live, but they did it; willingly and unwillingly.  It was hard to do.  And the payback for the country has been daily shooting into Israel from Gaza by those ingrates who first thing destroyed the vacant businesses, then shot rockets, missiles and mortars into Israel.  They even dug tunnels to use to kidnap Israelis and to bring in unlawful weapons to use against Israel.  Now, everyone knows that its mentally sick to keep repeating something that has failed.  The daily attacks were so bad that Israel went into Gaza a few times to stop them.  Palestinian Arabs recently shot  a barrage that lasted for days and people still thump for a 2 state solution.  That's because they are safe far away while the Israelis are hunkered down in shelters for days.

Say, once Jews were offered land in Africa.  Why doesn't someone offer the Palestinians land in Africa?  How about Russia?  It's large enough.  The only historic connection that the Palestinians have is the mosque that Mohammad landed on with his flying horse.  That legend is their only connection, that and the living on the land since 1881 when Jews returned after a 2,000 year wait.  They were escaping Russia's pogroms and ensuing death.  The Arabs had arrived from all over the continent and beyond hoping to get jobs with the Jews.  They had been hired.  Now they want to take the land over and kick out the Jews.

Why is it that the world keeps harping to have a 2 state solution?  Gaza seems to be a sample of their state as well as being an example of their state of mind.  Do you think Israelis are so stupid as to allow another Gaza connected to Israel so that they can dodge 2 sets of ammunition being shot at them?

In reading about the many plans that Israel had in order to bring a better life to the Palestinians and how they were turned down, turned off, should make people blush. Israel was full of idealism, wanting improvements, had great plans.

Occupation !  Israel isn't occupying land like the Romans occupied Jerusalem when Jews had to deal with it.  Since 1967's Six Day War, Israel won back land that had been occupied illegally by Jordan.  The Ottoman Empire had held our original land of Israel that the Romans had renamed as Palestine.  This is why we have Jews living in Judea and Samaria.  It is our old original land, land of our history that has been abused by all the "occupiers".  I'll tell you;  our land didn't like those other occupiers.  They didn't take care of it but let it turn into bogs with mosquitoes, weeds, and camel dung.  The Jews that have returned have made into a Garden of Eden again.  Just come visit and see.

High school senior picture in 1959.  Bernie Sanders said that in 1963 he lived and volunteered at Shaar Ha'amakim, an Israeli kibbutz near the city of Haifa, according to Israeli newspaper ..He was about 22 at the time. and not enjoying the experience.
Future first lady? Bernie Sanders and his wife Jane O'Meara Sanders, married in 1988,  as he was about to give the speech officially announcing his candidacy for the White House .

Sanders, oh Sanders.  How you have come to the point of not loving or defending Israel like I do is beyond me.  You have the distinction of being the most meshuggana Jew in USA if you ask me.  You who lived on a kibbutz for a while.  An occupier.  Ha!  Were you an eastern board Jew who was asked to milk cows or were you not appreciated for your great intellect like you are in Vermont?  You ran into people who were your peer group and you didn't like it, did you?  You have only offered negativism towards Israel, something they certainly don't need.  You've joined the Palestinians disapproval squad.

Life evidently is meant to be upside down these days.  We have Trump who has been the president who has done a lot for Israel.  Here's a new story I just heard about him.  He was talking to Abbas, head Palestinian on the phone.  Abbas thought he had Trump in the palm of his hand, too.  He was complaining about those terrible Jews to Trump.

Trump said, "How much did you give Israel?"  "What? asked Mahmoud Abbas.  "Give them what?"  Trump replied, "How much did you pay them for Security?"  "What?" said the bewildered Abbas.

"You are still alive.  You had to have security.  All sorts of people would love to see you dead.  Thank your lucky stars that only in Israel can you survive.  On your own, you wouldn't last a minute."

Abbas has been the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) since 11 November 2004, PNA president since 15 January 2005, and State of Palestine president since 8 May 2005. Abbas is also a member of the Fatah party and was elected chairman in 2009.
