Nikki Haley, Best UN Ambassador We've Ever Had, Presidential Potential

 Nadene Goldfoot

Nikki Haley, original name Nimrata Nikki Randhawa, (born January 20, 1972, Bamberg, South Carolina, U.S.), American politician who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (2017–18) in the administration of U.S. Pres. Donald Trump. She was the first woman to serve as governor of South Carolina (2011–17).

13 Times Nikki Haley Stood Up for Israel at the UN (And AIPAC)

No one may be more upset at U.S. ambassador's resignation than Israel, as these feisty quotes backing the Jewish state show,

Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, forcefully defended Israel in the violence at Gaza, potentially widening a rift between the U.S. and allies.

The U.N.'s Middle East envoy said there was no justifying the killings of more than 50 Palestinians by Israeli fire at the Gaza border, and several Security Council members called for an independent investigation, but the council had no unified message Tuesday as the U.S. said Israel had acted with "restraint."

Haley placed all blame for the conflict with Hamas, after more than 50 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire at the Gaza border, following the U.S. Embassy move to Jerusalem that was celebrated Monday. Haley laid blame for Monday's violence on the Hamas extremists who rule Gaza and insisted it had nothing to do with the opening the embassy, a move that infuriated Palestinians.

"I ask my colleagues here in the Security Council, who among us would accept this type of activity on your border? No one would." Haley said. "No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has. In fact, the records of several countries here today suggest they would be much less restrained."

Randhawa’s parents were Indian immigrants who owned a small foreign goods store that evolved into a hugely successful clothing and gift venture. She began working there while still a teenager, and, after studying accounting at Clemson University (B.S., 1994), she continued at the family business. In 1996 she married Michael Haley, who later served in the National Guard and was deployed during the Afghanistan War

In 2004 Nikki won a seat in the state House of Representatives, campaigning on a traditional Republican platform that included tax cuts, immigration controls, and abortion restrictions. She took office the following year and was reelected in 2008.

In 2010 Haley ran for governor of South Carolina, earning the backing of the Tea Party movement, notably Sarah Palin. It was a bitter campaign—with Haley being subjected to racial slurs and accusations of infidelity—but she defeated more experienced candidates in the primary and went on to win the general election. When she took office in 2011, she made history as the first woman and the first person of an ethnic minority to hold the governorship. During her first term South Carolina’s economy grew steadily as the jobless rate fell. Haley easily won reelection in 2014.

In 2015 Haley attracted national attention after Dylann Roof, a white man, opened fire during a Bible study meeting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, killing nine African Americans. Roof later claimed that he had hoped to start a race war, and in the ensuing weeks pressure mounted to remove the Confederate flag—perceived by some as a symbol of racism—from the State Capitol. Although she had earlier dismissed calls to remove it, in the wake of the tragedy Haley successfully led an effort to have the flag taken down.

In 2016 her position among Republicans continued to rise as she was selected to give the party’s response to U.S. Pres. Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. During that year’s presidential election, Haley endorsed U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and was critical of eventual Republican winner Trump, notably condemning his call for a ban on Muslims. In November 2016, however, President-elect Trump selected her to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Despite having limited foreign-policy experience, she was easily confirmed by the Senate in January 2017 with a vote of 96 to 4. Immediately thereafter she resigned as governor of South Carolina.

As UN ambassador, Haley developed a reputation for being outspoken, especially concerning Iran and North Korea, both of which were pursuing nuclear programs.

I notice that this reference made no mention of Nikki's great work in defending Israel at the UN.  We've never had a spokesman do such a fantastic job if you ask me.  While U.S. ambassadors to the United Nations invariably offered their backing to Israel at the UN, Nikki Haley seemingly made the Israeli cause a personal obsession.

My opinion of Tom Nides, our present Ambassador to the UN, is that he is the complete opposite of Nikki Haley in knowledge and understanding of Israel's position. He's going along with Biden's take on the subject who follows Obama so much.  The surprise is that she is not Jewish, and Tom is.  That doesn't matter in looking at facts about Israel, and thank goodness Nikki knew what she was defending and had an admiration for Israel, obviously.  She wasn't putting up any sham.

In 2018 she supported Trump’s decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal (2015) with Iran, though the other signatories (China, France, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom) signaled that they were committed to the agreement. Haley also stated that the United States would “never accept a nuclear North Korea” and that North Korea’s regime would be “utterly destroyed” in the event of a war.

Haley, who had told Trump that she planned to speak her own mind, also occasionally contradicted the president and others in his administration. She notably was highly critical of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, calling it “warfare.” In October 2018 Haley announced that she was resigning as UN ambassador, and she left office in December.   Those people like me were very disappointed that this happened and hoped she was not ill.

Who is Nikki Haley's husband Michael?

Ohio native Michael Haley is a commissioned officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

He served as the First Gentleman of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017.

In January 2012, Haley was shipped out for a year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan, as a captain in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Nikki Haley: Would She Run for President 2024? – Long rumored to be considering a 2024 run, former United States Ambassador Nikki Haley this week distanced herself from former President Donald Trump and firmly sided with former Vice President Mike Pence on the matter of election fraud.

“Mike Pence is a good man. He’s an honest man, I think he did what he thought was right on that day,” Haley told Fox News’s Bret Baier on Monday.

Her comments came after the former vice president, who is also rumored to be considering a 2024 run, said that the former president was wrong about his role in the certification of presidential electors.

“President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election,” Pence told the audience at a Federalist Society event hosted in Florida."  People of both parties agree with this.  Legally, he could not overturn the election.

"“He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”

Nikki explained how she has not spoken to Trump since the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.

“When I tell you I’m angry, it’s an understatement,” Nikki said. adding her disappointment at Trump for condemning his own vice president, Mike Pence."

Nikki has an extremely sensitive understanding of what is right and what is wrong.  She showed it by her strong defense of Israel at the UN, not relenting or being swayed by other people.  She had bothered to study well the situation, more than other people possessed.  She shows it again in her disappointment in Trump.  Because of her honesty, she'll lose votes if she runs from his followers.  We've lost the best UN defender of Israel through this matter.

Adam D. Kinzinger is currently serving his sixth term in the United States House of Representatives and proudly represents Illinois’ Sixteenth Congressional District, which stretches across 14 counties in Northern Illinois.

Liz Chaney from Wyoming:  Elizabeth Lynne Cheney is an American attorney and politician who has been the U.S. representative for Wyoming's at-large congressional district since 2017. She chaired the House Republican Conference, the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership, from 2019 to 2021

Nikki should run and run with people like her;  Liz Chaney for one, and Adam Kinzinger for the other.  They would make a great team in my opinion; Republicans yes, and courageous enough to speak their minds and see errors of judgement and not go along with them.
