Kamala Harris and Her 2017 Position On Israel

Signing guestbook at Yad Vashem in Israel with husband Doug Emhoff,
who is Jewish and a lawyer.  They live in California.
Kamala Harris has stated her thoughts about Israel because she had been running for president.

"In 2017, Harris gave a public address to AIPAC attendees. She said: "I believe Israel should never be a partisan issue, and as long as I'm a United States senator, I will do everything in my power to ensure broad and bipartisan support for Israel's security and right to self-defense." Harris noted that "the first resolution I co-sponsored as a United States senator was to combat anti-Israel bias at the United Nations," referring to a Senate resolution celebrating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. In that same speech, she expressed her support for a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict."  Hopefully, her husband is a member of AIPAC and not J-Street, who wants to lead Israel, not bring her needs to the attention of USA.

That is a position that is no longer believable in Israel.  After 70 years of continued fighting with the Palestinians who are made up of Hamas terrorists living in Gaza and Fatah's PA living in Judea-Samaria (West Bank), Israelis have come to the conclusion that a state next door to them would not be a safe one for their own 7 million population.  Palestinians have proven that their oath they took in their 1967 Kartoum, Africa meeting of their 3 NO's is still valid.  They refuse to make peace with Israel.

Memorial of Fallen IDF in Yom Kippur 1973 War
Israel had 2,656 deaths and 11,656 casualties
when multiple Muslim nations attacked on the one day out of the year
day of a 25 hour fast that is spent mostly in the synagogue praying,
asking for forgiveness for our sins.
It's that attitude that helped to bring on the 1973 Yom Kippur War with Israel and  surrounding Muslim states, in which Egypt and Syria were leaders, leading the Muslims in attack.  October 6, 1973, Yom Kippur War begins, craighill.net, see below.

Syria, now ruled pretty much by Hezbolla terrorists, who just went through a mind-boggling explosion on their own dock, hasn't stopped attacking with balloons bearing fire-causing mechanisms that are burning Israeli land, another form of terrorism and attack.  Give them an inch and they are taking a foot.  Between COVID 19, Syria and Hamas, and throw in Iran who back them all, Israel has their hands fuller than ever, so creating a Palestinian state would be the worst thing now at this time as I see the situation.  Have Jews had to wait for 2,000 years to re-gain their land that they had held for over 1,000 years before losing it to the Romans and then only be able to live there for 70 years and lose it all to the Muslim civilization?

Kamala Harris and Benyamin Netanyahu
"In late 2017, she traveled to Israel, where she met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and visited the Western WallYad Vashem, and the Supreme Court of Israel.  Executive Director of the Jewish Democratic Council of America Halie Soifer, who previously served as Harris' national security advisor, said the following of Harris:
"She has been a lifelong supporter of Israel. She has talked about the importance of ensuring that the US-Israel relationship remains strong and not be politicized in the way that this administration has done to divide Democrats." I think she's very supportive of the US-Israel relationship."
"In 2018, in another speech to AIPAC, Harris reiterated her support for Israel, reminiscing about growing up in the Bay Area, collecting funds to plant trees in Israel for the Jewish National Fund. She later condemned anti-semitism in the aftermath of Tree of Life – Or L'Simcha Congregation shooting which claimed the lives of 11 worshippers during Shabbat morning services."

Kamala's trip to Israel
"In 2019, she opposed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel. She was a cosponsor of a Senate resolution expressing objection to the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemned Israeli settlement building in the occupied Palestinian territories as a violation of international law."  She condemned 2334 which is something that Obama refused to do that I hold against him.  Good for her.

"Anti-BDS and pro-Iran deal, Kamala Harris' record on Israel

In-depth: California senator has often come out in defense of Israel, opposed conditioning aid on change in West Bank policy; Democratic vice presidential hopeful, who has Jewish husband, has also been vocal on her belief in Israel's right to defend itself."  The extreme left of Democrats are all for conditioning aid.

Note: the Area C is up for being ceded by Israel soon,
but COVID 19 issues are slowing this down right now.  C is the eastern side
nearest Jordan.
She has argued for a two-state solution but has said: “I believe that a resolution to this conflict cannot be imposed. It must be agreed upon by the parties themselves.”
Ms Harris also co-sponsored a Senate resolution in early 2017 that rebuked the Obama administration for allowing a US Security Council resolution to pass that condemned Israel’s settlement policies.
She also is on the record opposing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel.
But she has expressed support for the Iran nuclear deal - which she said she would rejoin.
“This nuclear deal is not perfect, but it is certainly the best existing tool we have to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and avoid a disastrous military conflict in the Middle East,” she wrote in 2018.
As attorney general in 2012 she said that anti-Jewish hate crimes were the most commonplace religion-based crime in California.

The fact remains that Biden, who is running for president and the one most important on this ticket, has said that he will uproot everything Trump has done for Israel.  He is the Yang to Trump's Ying.  Every president has vowed to put the US Embassy in Jerusalem but never has done it until Trump came along.  Incidentally, it's right next door to the City of David, the original section of Jerusalem.

Update: 8/16/2020: Joe Biden to Jewish donors:  "I do not support annexation,' will reverse Trump policies on Israel and the Palestinians.  https://www.jta.org/2020/05/20/politics/joe-biden-tells-jewish-donors-i-do-not-support-annexation-and-will-reverse-trump-policies-on-israel-and-the-palestinians

Six foot Joe Biden, who is 77 years old, will try to steam-roll 5'2" Kamala Harris, who is 55 years old.  He'll hold his former Vice President position as his shield against her arguments, most likely those about Israel, I'm afraid.  I see him as having his stubborn position about Israel and will not waver.  The older we get, the more we are set in our ways.  Trump is 71. "Emhoff and Harris got married in a Santa Barbara courthouse in 2014, when Harris was California’s attorney general. Harris’ sister, Maya, officiated over the wedding, which followed a five-month engagement, according to Sacramento Bee reporting at the time. While Emhoff and Harris have no children, Emhoff has two children, Cole and Ella Emhoff, from a previous marriage.  He's an entertainment attorney.  Emhoff is a partner at the firm DLA Piper, where he works based out of Los Angeles and Washington, D.C."
“He represents large domestic and international corporations and some of today’s highest profile individuals and influencers in complex business, real estate and intellectual property litigation disputes,” according to his biography on DLA Piper’s website."

Kamala on left, sister Maya and mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California. Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a breast cancer scientist who had emigrated from Tamil NaduIndia, in 1960 to pursue a doctorate in endocrinology at UC Berkeley. Her father, Donald J. Harris, is a Stanford University emeritus professor of economics, who emigrated from British Jamaica in 1961 for graduate study in economics at UC Berkeley. Her mother's family is of Brahmin lineage

Kamala Harris is likely to be a formidable challenger on the ticket for several reasons, especially since she was a prosecutor.  She's holding some high cards.

Update: 8/16/2020
One last thought;  Joe Biden was Obama's vice president and did very little to change his attitude towards Israel, for he turned against Israel many times and did not support Israel in the UN on his last day in office when had a chance to do so.
