New Israel Fund Behind the BDS against Israel

Israel has enemies from the darnedest regions today, places you'd never suspect.  I just found out that the "New Israel Fund" is one of them.  Jewish Community Centers have been donating money to this fund and in turn it's doing its best to harm Israel, of all places for a fund with Israel in its title. The clue is to notice the word, NEW.

"In addition, Daniel Sokatch, CEO of NIF, says that in line with their "core values of democracy and equality, we support two states for two peoples and we oppose the occupation and the settlement enterprise." In June 2012, NIF marched with a "progressive cluster" in the New York Celebrate Israel parade; the cluster included AmeinuAmericans for Peace NowB’Tselem USAPartners for Progressive Israel, and Rabbis for Human Rights-North America."

Katusha rocket range
I'd like to give these people a geography test and then take them on a little field trip to these places so that they can see how close everything is.  I have taken that trip.  Israel's narrow strip from Samaria is 9 miles wide, all bared to rocket fire.

First I was alerted by friends in the "know" about it.  I checked with our leader, Bob Horenstein of the MJCC in Portland, and he said the Center's money was not going to them.

Then I checked their website and it looks so benign.  They seem to be doing good things, and are so well organized all over the world.  I noticed a lot of the leaders were from California and most were Jews.  They have a board of directors, mostly all Jews.  Amal El Sana Albyooj wasn't, and was a Bedouin from Beersheva who is working on her PhD at McGill U, a very prestigious university in Canada.  Elah Alkalay from Kfar Mordechay was in business with several degrees.  Could this group be so naive that they don't realize what they're doing?  I doubt it.  They just have a good cover.

These on the left, now calling themselves the Progressive Cluster, for they must be as such  to do what they are doing, are leading the way in having people all over the world Boycott, Divest and Sanction business coming out of Israel.  It's attacking Tel Aviv, not just the territories of Judea and Samaria.

Israel has gotten wise, however and are stacking up the lawsuits against people who are practicing BDS.  This comes from a 2011 law enabling civil recovery actions against those attacking Israeli individuals, companies and institutions with BDS.  This is so those suffering losses by BDS activity can sue for actual damages.  Critics are predicting litigation against the NIF and its NGO grantees that promote BDS.

NIF was in the picture early on when BDS was a new set of initials.

UN Resolution 181 initiated a partition of the land into 2 states.  The lines between the parties have never been mutually agreed upon or delineated.  Israel claims the land under international law.  The International community mainly rejects the claim and as far as I can see, can't counter it.  They just don't like it.

This means that the land of Judea and Samaria are now covered by the recent Israeli Supreme Court ruling.  Many of these BDS activities have targeted all of Israel including Israeli universities in Tel Aviv and Haifa, the national shipping line, Zim, and products like Ahava cosmetics and Sodastream.

Calling for boycott and participating in it, can sometimes be considered "POLITICAL TERROR."   This was pronounced by Supreme Court Justice Hanan Melcer.  THE CULTURAL ACADEMIC BOYCOTT OF ISRAEL IS INTENDING TO PARALYZE AND SILENCE POLITICAL EXPRESSION TO MAKE ONE OPINION AND ONE TRUTH ONLY. Justice Yitzhak Amit announced this.   Of course that one truth would come from people against Israel, like this New Israel Fund and its backers.  Israel doesn't do things like that in their universities, but this seems to be happening on campuses in the USA.  A university is supposed to prepare a student to look at all sides of an issue, pro and con.  Debates do a lot of educating.

Almost every American university is against Israel with their anti-Israel weeks.   This shows how clever a group like this can affect young college students and warp their minds.  They don't have the backgrounds to realize or the interest to fight such things.  It's just easier to go along with them and makes the parties more socially acceptable.  .

This Law upheld in Israel's Supreme Court now resembles ordinary tort law of England the USA.  Some speech has legal consequences and that includes defamation, infringement and business interference.

Ronn Torossian is a public-relations specialist who has written about NIF.  The NIF boycotts hurt both Israel and Palestinian Arabs, and is simply racist at its core.  It's anti-democratic and wrong.

A month before this ruling, a letter had come out declaring a warning that the New Israel Fund should not support publicly or privately any boycott or similar effort against the Israeli government or the nation's organization, academic institutions, corporations or other entities.

In the past, NIF has stated that its activites are for achieving a more democratic state.  You can't make a state more democratic than Israel is.  Filled with Jews from every part of the world, 1.7 million Arabs from a variety of religious and social strata, Christians of many types and colors and a range of political views that even include Communism, I always wonder how Netanyahu keeps from having a nervous breakdown.  It was all I could do to handle Jewish parents of my class in the states!   I bow to the Knesset to get so much accomplished, and to Mossad who is far nicer and more clever than NCIS paints them out  to be.

You also can't force a state to become Democratic, like has been tried with Egypt and other places.  They each have their own particular style and problems and will learn from watching others.  Frankly, our own USA has changed since it first started out as a Democratic state.  Israel is only 67 years old.  It's doing far better than the USA did at that age.  Oh yes, computers and cell phones to help.  I know, but people don't advance as fast as they do.  Look at ISIS.  They're still wielding swords and cutting heads off of people they disagree with, something populations in the 6th Century did.

No, Israel isn't perfect, but like me, they keep on striving to be.  It's our nature.  I lived in Israel for over 5 years, from 1980 to the end of 1985 teaching English at the junior high.  I wonder if any of these New Israel Fund people have stepped out of their social circle and made attempts to know the rest of the Israelis in our tiny country.  Have the Californians visited Israel for a trip longer than 10 days?  Israelis haven't been raised in the USA except for the ones like me who moved there, and we are in the minority.

For a people from every corner of the world who have felt hatred far more than I have, they have a fantastic appreciation and practice of Democracy.  All Israelis, men and women,  face going into service-and for men that means till age 55.  True, our religiously bent have been excused, but that is changing.  The country is based as a Jewish state and it would be horrible to run out of these academics.  After all, this is the main state for Jews in the whole world, a refuge, as it is, but who are attacked all the time.

In this state one doesn't declare that they are conscientious objectors and get out of the service.  They go into Yeshivas instead, and study and maintain grades.  About 50% of those Israeli over 18 serve.  The service is a great equalizer for the social life of these young people.  I love the fact that many young women wind up as sergeants training the young men.

The New Israel Fund says its objectives are "  social justice and equality for all Israelis.  It's a cover to take down the country.   To get their brand of social justice they think is missing, their reasoning is to deprive all in Israel of their economic ability to provide for their families.  They don't do it like they're supposed to by their voting power.  The IDF is the country's great social mixer.  Arabs are there because they want to be.  They're not forced.  It's their country, too, and they want to help protect it.

Naftali Bldg, Tel Aviv University
There are social differences in Israel.  Arab and Jew, Ashkenazi and Sephardi and Mizrachi, religious and non-religious, Jew and Muslim, educated and non-educated, from the IDF and no service record, and worst of all, Israeli and terrorists.  Political beliefs range from extreme left to extreme right.  Everyone is vocal. Everyone has their opinion.   They are not that much different with these house problems than the USA.  They don't need to have their businesses and universities marked as unfit because someone else outside of the country wants to run the show.

As for the 2 state solution, it must be known that Netanyahu would like that, too, but it isn't humanly possible to come about at this time.  Even the New Israel Fund people couldn't sit in his chair and change the Palestinians from their goals as listed in Hamas Charter, and even Fatah share these same beliefs.  They're not so secretive about it anymore.

"Until September 2007, Fatah's constitution calling for the eradication of Israel was on its English-language Web site in translation. Fatah's English-language Web site (www.fateh.net) has apparently since been removed, but caches of that Web site remain.  Below is the English translation of the Fatah Constitution as it appeared on the Fatah English-language Web site on August 25, 2007:     Article (5) Liberating Palestine is a national obligation which necessities the materialistic and human support of the Arab Nation
Article (7) The Zionist Movement is racial, colonial and aggressive in ideology, goals, organisation and method.
Article (8) The Israeli existence in Palestine is a Zionist invasion with a colonial expansive base, and it is a natural ally to colonialism and international imperialism.
Article (9) Liberating Palestine and protecting its holy places is an Arab, religious and human obligation.
Article (17) Armed public revolution is the inevitable method to liberating Palestine.
Article (22) Opposing any political solution offered as an alternative to demolishing the Zionist occupation in Palestine, as well as any project intended to liquidate the Palestinian case or impose any international mandate on its people.
Fatah terrorists
"Abbas' Fatah wants to destroy Israel:
"What was taken by force
can only be regained by force"

These  New  Israel Fund leaders should know that Israel has tried for 67 years to have a Palestine next door-but one who wants peace and will recognize them and experience mutual recognition.  If you bother to look at their form of religion and Charter, it's not in the cards.  Again, you cannot force people to do  anything.  They must see the reasoning to do it.

Fatah leaves clues all over to show their intention is not peaceful.

"When the 'storm' Al-Asifa (i.e., a reference to Fatah's military wing in the 1960's and 1970's) roars and the nation applauds the eternal Fatah, the world's dwarfs should remain in their burrows."

However, it looks like J Street is not too happy with this ruling from Israel's Supreme Court.  .  " Back on October 23, 2013, the headline

J Street and New Israel Fund Call ADL’s “Top Anti-Israel Groups” List “Short-Sighted and Unproductive.”  J Street said: There is room for an important debate about BDS, a debate we believe we can win and are winning. We can and should discuss the contours of a final negotiated settlement, Israel’s future as a democracy, and the complexities of Israel-Diaspora relations.  I see there is a connection between the two. A Marcia Freedman, former Knesset member born in the USA spoke at the J Street meeting as if Israelis are guilty of displacing the Arabs and wants Jews out.  She needs Kum-Buy-Yah in the background as she talks of cooperation and our guilt that J Street goes for.

The cloak of Zionism that the New Israel Fund and J Street have appropriated for themselves are deliberate manipulative fabrications. There is nothing at all to connect Zionism and a state of all its citizens.
Any call to nullify the state of Israel as a Jewish state – as a Jewish and democratic state –is tantamount to a call for the murder of all Jews and, ironically, most of the minorities living in the land of Israel.
In understanding some of the social barriers in Israel, I just read a book which pointed them out that I laughed all the way through.  Anyone reading this article must get the book.  It's about a Moroccan Jew, Israel's sexiest superspy, unhappy as he is a Mizrachi and feels they are beneath the Ashkenazis, who becomes a spy for Mossad.  Hilarious!  It's called THE MOROCCAN, by C.A. Haddad-a superthriller of international intrigue with "the irresistibly zany quality of Mash.  Intermarriage and the IDF are great equilizers between the young of Israel of all social spheres.  Love conquers all problems-at least for a little while.  Don't you worry, you New Israel Fund people.  Israelis are mixing it up nicely without your assistance.  In fact, if people will buy their goods, they'll do even better.

Update: 5/28/15:  from StandWithUs:  Breaking News!!
BDS Defeat at Washington Supreme Court
StandWithUs is thrilled to share the news that, in a major setback to the anti-Israel boycott, divestment, sanctions (BDS) campaign, this morning the Washington State Supreme Court held, by a vote of 9-0 that a lawsuit can proceed against Olympia Food Co-op board members, challenging their 2011 decision to boycott Israeli products.
