ISIS and France's Islamic Population

Nadene Goldfoot
Israel's travel advisory for Israelis going to Western Europe warned that Jews and Israelis may be targets for IS.  The former IS terrorist, Mehdi Nemmouche, had carried out a deadly shooting at the Brussels Jewish Museum in May.

Nemmouche, age 29, is a French jihadist who was in Syria.  He tortured Syrian prisoners and enjoyed doing it.  He is accused of raping and killing a young mother and then beheading her baby.  Now he is being held prisoner for shooting to death 4 people in the Jewish museum in Brussels, Belgium  after returned to Europe. "He allegedly opened fire indiscriminately, killing an Israeli couple, a French woman and a Jewish member of staff. He was arrested in Marseille in possession of guns and ammunition along with a tape in which he allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack."    The killer was seen on the museum's surveillance cameras.  A witness saw that he drove an Audi and was able to get the licence plate number.   David Haines was among the Syrian prisoners and was then beheaded as the 3rd victim of Isis beheadings of Americans and English.   He was fingered by a French journalist for Le Point magazine, Nicolas Henin,  who had been a captive there.  Nemmouche was his jailer.  Jews in Belgium numbered in 2012 about 30,000 or 0.2% of the world population.

France has 6.5 million Islamists living there.  "In August, two French converts to Islam fighting in Syria caused consternation in France by issuing a call for jihad. In a video posted on YouTube, the half-brothers from the southern city of Toulouse—home of the al-Qaeda-inspired murderer Mohamed Merah—appeal for holy war and urge French President François Holland to convert to Islam."

France is also the country where a Jewish day school's staff and pupils were shot and killed by a jihadist.  Many Jews have already moved to Israel as the situation has been getting out of hand with blatant anti-Semitism that hasn't been stopped.  The Jewish population of France has been about 480,000 or 3.5% of their population as of 2012.

  1. "By area, France is the 42nd largest country in the world but the largest country in Western Europe and the European Union (EU), and the third-largest in Europe as a whole. With a population approaching 67 million, it is the 20th most populated country and the second-most populated country in the EU."
  2. "French President François Hollande, who hosted the conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Masum, said there was "no time to lose" in international efforts against ISIS.   Meeting in Paris were more than 2 dozen nations, the Arab League, the European Union and the UN.  They called ISIS a threat to the international community and agreed to "ensure that the culprits are brought to justice."  I see none signed up with Kerry on his quest for help.
  3.  Israel hasn't been asked to join Obama's coalition against IS.  It now includes Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Two days ago "Iraqi security forces near Baghdad who were being attacked by enemy fighters asked the USA for assistance. because they were under fire."  The USA then launched airstrikes against ISIS.
