Charter of Hamas Versus Charter of Likud and Declaration of Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

Chaim Weizmann and Emir Feisal

"We Arabs...look with deepest sympathy on the Zionist movement...We will wish the Jews a hearty welcome home...our two movements complete one another...I think that neither can be a real success without the other."
Emir Feisal, Leader of the Arab national movement, March 3, 1919.

Haj Amin al-Husseini, Sherif of Jerusalem, the Grand Mufti, of lower station than Feisal, caused rioting and hatred for Jews.  They remain the people following this Grand Mufti today.

"We may lose or win, but our eyes will continue to aspire to the strategic goal, namely, to Palestine from the river to the sea (all of Israel).  Whatever we get now cannot make us forget this supreme truth."
Faisal Husseini, PLO representative in Jerusalem and a PA minister, April 2001

"You understand that we plan to eliminate the State of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian State.  We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion... I have no use for Jews;   they are and remain Jews."
Yasser Arafat to an Arab audience in Stockholm, Sweden, January 30, 1996.

This morning CNN came up with an important discussion, more like a debate between Sarah Elizabeth Cupp, political commentator and correspondent and author, a regular on CNN,  and James Zogby, Lebanese Arab born in New York, He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee and  the .founder and president of the Arab American Institute (AAI), a Washington, D.C.–based organization which serves as a political and policy research arm of the Arab-American community.  They had a discussion on the charters of Hamas (Palestinian Terrorists) and Likud (Jewish Political Party of Israel).  Actually, the discussion centered around what is left out of news reporting, and the charter of Hamas has definitely been left out.

Cupp brought out the fact that the Hamas charter stands for killing all Jews and taking over Israel.  In defense, Zogby threw out that Likud wants to take all of Palestine and drive out all the Palestinians.  I don't think many of us other than Likud members know that Likud even had a charter, so I immediately googled it.

First of all, I notice that the Oslo Peace Process started in 1993 with President Bill Clinton and the MidEast Envoy, Dennis Ross for the USA and Yitzhak Rabin, Prime Minister of the Labor Party and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres.  Yasser Arafat, PLO Chairman,  spoke for his group, which is today's Fatah.  Peres, Rabin and Yasser Arafat  won the Nobel Prize in 1994 for "for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East". The same people also continued in 1995, except that Yitzhak Rabin had been assassinated on November 4, 1995, so was replaced.  In  1996, Benjamin Netanyahu, now Israel's Prime Minister from the Likud Party was there instead of Peres.

Likud was started by Menachem Begin in 1973.  He was Prime Minister from 1973 to 1983.   Likud started out as a group of both left and right-wing parties - including Herut, Liberal Party, Free Center, National List, and Labor Movement for Greater Israel - that united in 1973 just before the elections to the 8th Knesset.  The party's electoral list for the Knesset was drawn up from representatives of the various movements based on an agreed formula.

The Likud Party charter was written in  1973  and starts with their ancient history in the Land of Israel (Eretz Israel).
a.  The right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is eternal and indisputable and is linked with the right to security and peace;  therefore, Judea and Samaria will not be handed to any foreign administration;  between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.

b.  A plan which relinquishes parts of western Eretz Israel, undermines our right to the country, unavoidably leads to the establishment of a "Palestinian State,"  jeopardizes the security of the Jewish population, endangers the existence of the State of Israel and frustrates any prospect of peace.

Right now this looks prophetic.  The idea of a 2 state solution is all but dead to Netanyahu and most all Israelis as long as Hamas is the governing party of the Palestinians people, and they must be remembered to have kicked out Fatah in 2005 and took over Gaza after being elected.

Abbas of PA (Fatah)  and Sisi of Egypt

Egypt is trying to install Abbas of Fatah as the leader of Gaza.  How will this ever stick with Hamas and a few other terrorist groups that don't even listen to Hamas having their own way firing rockets into Israel?  Fatah is just too weak to hold such a position.  Abbas has no control over the people.  He is the most moderate, but he's almost 80 years old and doesn't have the clout to do this.

The readers must realize that Fatah is also a terrorist group,  slightly reformed from  formerly being PLO,  because they supposedly recognized Israel.  I find that many speakers do not always tell the truth.  Their 5th General Congress specified their future objectives, and one was #2  Firm adherence to Palestinian Arab national inalienable rights in their homeland Palestine, including their right to repatriation, self-determination without foreign interference, and the establishment of their independent state with holy Jerusalem as its capital...

I can argue this all day being there were actually few Palestinian Arabs on the land in 1880 when Jews came and started building from Russia.  They came in from Syria and all thought they were Syrian Arabs, not Palestinian Arabs.  Others came from other surrounding states and even further away looking for jobs. They have been fed this history by their leaders who know better.

Hamas's charter says from August 18, 1988:

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will
obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it”
(The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

#6 The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished
Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose
way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah

over every inch of Palestine,

“The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems
fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide
behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O
Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and
kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind
of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of

the Jews” (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

The charter states that "our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious" and calls for the eventual creation of an Islamic state in Palestine, in place of Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and the obliteration or dissolution of Israel

Terrorism continued from the start of the Oslo Peace process.  For the 5 years after the Oslo Accords were signed, Palestinian terrorist groups were against a 2-state solution.  They killed 282 Israelis in their terroristic attacks.  The 15  years before Oslo was signed saw 216 Israelis killed.  They were now speeding up.  From September 1993 to 1994, 26 Israelis were murdered by them.  In 1994, the year Arafat won the peace prize, 73 were killed.  In 1995, 52 were killed.  In 1996, 87 were killed. 1997 had only 31, 1998 had just 13, 1999 was only a record 4, but by 2000 the 2nd Intifada began and suddenly 47 Israelis were killed that year.

A record 206 were murdered in 2001, 2002 saw a record of 452 killed, which made 2003 better with only 214 killed.  2004 lost 117 to terrorists, then in 2005 the number went down to 45 and in 2006 to 32.  In January of 2006, Ehud Olmert became interim Prime Minister after Ariel Sharon suffered his stroke.  Hamas, dedicated to destroying Israel in  accordance with its founding charter, won the PA Parliamentary elections.  From February to March 1996, 4 suicide bombings took place in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Ashkelon which killed 67 Israelis over 7 days.  In March of that year, the Kadima Party won the Israeli elections.  May 31, 1996 saw the Likud Party leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, become Prime Minister of Israel, defeating Labor's Shimon Peres in early elections called after the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.
  1. Netanyahu eked out a victory margin of about 1 percent over Prime Minister Shimon Peres in the elections of May 29, 1996, the first in which the prime minister was directly elected. Netanyahu became the youngest person ever to serve as Israel's prime minister when he formed a government on June 18.
  2.  In 1998 Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Yāsir ʿArafāt participated in peace talks that resulted in the Wye Memorandum, the terms of which included placing as much as 40 percent of the West Bank under Palestinian control. The agreement was opposed by right-wing groups in Israel, and several factions in Netanyahu’s government coalition quit. In 1998 the Knesset dissolved the government, and new elections were scheduled for May 1999. (So much for the Likud charter allowing foreigners into the land).
Then in July and August of 2006, the Hezbollah War occurred.

Netanyahu of Likud served as Prime Minister from 1993 to 1999.  He is serving his 2nd time as Prime Minister of 9 years from 2005 to the present,  and has his hands full with Operation Defensive Edge in Gaza and Judea and Samaria rioting in sympathy with their brothers in Gaza.  Besides that, Netanyahu is most worried about Iran's capabilities to have atomic weapons shortly to use on Israel.
