A 13th century German rabbi from Regensburg wrote many books in German. He was Judah Ben Samuel, AKA Judah he-Hasid (Judah the Pious) and he has made some astonishing and specific predictions about the future of Israel that have come true already. He made a prophecy 750 years before it has happened So far it has been fullfilled to the letter. This rabbi died in 1217 and was a mystic. He devoted himself chiefly to kabbalistic studies.
The Christian Crusades occurred from 1096 to 1270. From this period a correspondence developed between Jews in the Holy Land and the Christian West. The rabbis in Worms and Regensburg, Germany had heard that Saladin's Ayyubids had been ruling in the Holy land since 1187.
Judah Ben Samuel was a student of Gematria and astrological observations and made this prediction: He was often called "the light of Israel." Bishops came to him for advice. Here it is.
1. When the Ottomans (Turks) who were already a power to be reckoned with on the Bosporus-conquered Jerusalem, they will rule over Jerusalem for 8 jubilees. (50 years=1 jubilee) 50 x 8 = 400.
2. Afterwards Jerusalem will become a no-man's land for one jubilee.1917 + 50=1967.
3. In the 9th jubilee it will once again come back into the possession of the Jewish nation which would signify the beginning of the Messianic end time. 1967=Messianic End Times began=end 2017.
This happened! The Mamluks had been in Jerusalem since 1250 but were conquered in 1517 by the Ottoman Turks. The Ottomans were in Jerusalem for 400 years. In 1917, the Turks were conquered by the British. The League of Nations conferred the mandate for the Holy Land and Jerusalem to the British. From 1917 under international law, Jerusalem was no-man's land. It was not until the Six Day War in 1967 when the entire Judea and Samaria of the Holy Land was conquered by the Israeli army that the whole city of Jerusalem passed back into the possession of Israel. The prophecy made by the rabbi 750 years before will fulfilled to the letter. 1917 and 1967 were Jubilee years. The 10th Jubilee began in 1967 and will end in 2017.
Referencing Judah the Pious was Rabbi Isaac Ben Solomon Luria, a mystic from Safed who dealt with the messianic world and lived in Jerusalem and Safed from 1531 to 1572, and others.
He was asked about where he received his wisdom, and he said that it came from the prophet Elijah, who will precede the Messiah, and he had appeared to him and revealed many things and emphasized that the precondition for answered prayer is that it is fueled by enthusiasm and joy for the greatness and holiness of G-d.
Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel's chief work is the Sepher Hasidim or Book of Saints. It's one of the major medieval Hebrew ethical works. It's a compilation based on the writings of Judah, his pupil Eleazar of Worms who was the author of the Rokeah, and his father Samuel. Judah also edited the itinerary of Pethahiah of Regensburg.
