Putin and Russia-Are they Gog and Magog?

          "According to some commentators about Judaism, the war of Gog and Magog envisioned in Ezekiel 38 is expected to occur in the end of days. This is described to be a climactic war that is said to occur at the end of the Jewish exile. Radak comments on Zechariah 14, that in the end of days Jerusalem will be the battle ground of Gog and Magog.

According to Jewish thought, Gog is a king and his country is called Magog.  This is mentioned in our Tanakh (Bible)  in (Ezekiel. 38-9).  Ezekiel tells of the coming downfall of Gog in the latter years after his attack upon the Land of Israel at the head of  the armies of many peoples.  The Talmud holds that the wars of Gog and Magog will precede the advent of the Messiah.  The concept also figures in Christian and Muslim legend.

Gog is the leader of Meshech and Tubal and with them will be Persia (Iran), Cush and Put, Gomer, the house of Togarmah in the uttermost parts of the north, and all its chohorts-many peoples will be with them.  It is said that when all this horde of haters of Israel come upon the soil of Israel, a great earthquake will take place upon the soil.  The war will end with the destruction of Israel's enemies.  This is prophesied to happen after Israel was newly resettled by its people.  This has happened.  Israel came into being again May 14, 1948 and Jews have returned and are still returning.  In fact, anti-Semitism in such places such as France is a big reason why they are returning.  That's what Israel came into being for-Jews were facing such odds and needed their own homeland again.

Israel is considered the navel or center of the world, and it surely has been the center of news in today's world.  Not all Jews fled their homeland when Jerusalem fell in 70CE.  Many had remained.  Jews have returned after being exiled for 2,000 years from all 4 corners of the earth but have been rebuffed by the  inhabitants of the region because they returned as Jews and not as Muslims.  By the same token, Jews returned to their land after living in Christian and Muslims lands for the past 2,000 years which has not been accepting them, either.  In fact, it was the horrible pogroms of Russia that caused Russian Jews to make aliyah to Palestine, and before that the Crusading attacks on Jews throughout Europe and being exiled from countries periodically  who eventually moved to places like Safed in Palestine.  

So we're all expecting a huge war in the Middle East  where Israel will be attacked by the leader of many nations and here we are in the days of nuclear A bombs.  Could that be now?  We're nearing the year 6,000 by the Jewish calendar, a prodigious but ominous time.  That's when the Messiah is expected.  This is now the year 5776.  We have 224 years to get things right.  It's bad enough that Israel has been hit by thousands of mortars, missiles and rockets from Hamas in Gaza for years and years.  
                                                                                 

Hamas Terrorists

As it is today, Israel is facing many dangers.  In the south is Hamas and other terrorists based in Gaza which is to be part of a new state for Arabs, Palestine.  Creating Palestine is the panacea most countries see as the cure-all for the Middle East rumbling, yet the Palestinians are not about to make peace with Israel.  Their goal is not to create a state with which would expect more than they have the skills to do successfully.  Their goal is to drive Jews away so they can just take over what is already there, and I suppose run it to the ground like what had previously happened to the land under the Ottoman Empire for the past 400 years.  They have not been nation-builders.  They almost destroyed Jordan in Black September in 1970-1971.  

                                                                             

In the north are Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist who are getting ready for future attacks on Israel.  From aerial photos released in May, we see these terrorists have moved much of its 100,000 plus rocket arsenal within civilian towns, buffered by human shields.  They've learned how to do this from the Palestinians in Gaza.   Remember, Iran is backed by Russia, too.                          

The PA-Hamas who can't get along and who disagree with each other

In the east, the PA (Palestinian Authority led by 80-81 year old Assad) are refusing to return to peace negotiations that the whole world is banking on. Israel is always willing to restart peace negotiations without preconditions today.  It is expected that if they want peace, there will be peace, but not on conditions that the Palestinians are about to push Israel into the sea and kill off all the Israelis.  Actually, it's tragic that Israel had to see 80% of their promised land go to Jordan, and they are left with a sliver which now has to be cut apart again to allow a 49th Muslim state to be created in the world while the only Jewish state has been cut and cut again into the smallest of slivers while the world becomes more anti-Semitic.

With all this happening, and Europe is being hit with millions of Muslim refugees fleeing from the savagery happening in the Middle East, the president of Syria, President Bashar Assad has asked Russia to send troops to Syria and Vladimir Putin has responded and is giving him his military support.  Russia has been one of Assad's strongest allies since the Syrian crisis began in March 2011 which has killed more than 250,000 people and of course has now turned millions more into refugees.

                                                                        

The Kremlin says it will only use its air force in Syria, not ground troops.  Today they bombed a rebel city that holds people against Assad.  Sky News in Arabic says that the warplanes were targeting areas in the Governorate of Hama.  I thought CNN had said Homs, both places hit by Assad previously.

Everyone thought they were there to fight against IS, the Islamic State terrorists that are Salafists and so brutal, but places Russia hit were not IS centers.

Moscow sent a General to Iraq's USA office that the USA had one hour to comply with them by not  flying over Syria now.  It is Russian airspace.  Sources inside Syria are reporting at least 27 people are dead in the Russian strikes.  

Iran is our worry in that they are coming into nuclear power and will be able to create A bombs to use on Israel.  Iran is supported by Russia as well.  

                                                                        

Jews could not live in Russia, but the Pale of Settlement.  Here, Tevia and  his daughter live in Ukraine, part of the Pale.  Then they were forced to leave.  

With Russia wanting a port in Syria and helping Syria, the Russian President tells Arab League his country will fight to establish an independent Palestine with a capital in East Jerusalem. Russia doesn't do things without a payoff.  They want to have a hold on Israel.  They've never treated Jews other than 3rd class citizens.

Most Well Received Comment From Pope Francis

I've been listening to Pope Francis address the many people of our American government this morning.  The thing that surprised me was that there was a picture of Moses on the wall and he addressed Moses. 
                                                                           

Then he spoke about the Golden rule.  I wandered if any realized that came from Hillel, a rabbi from the 1st century BCE.  Hillel had been born in Babylonia being part of the Jews who had been taken from their homeland in Judah by the Babylonians in their attacks in 597 and 586 BCE.  He had been able to move and settled in Palestine.   He then eked out a living by doing manual labor while studying with the greatest of rabbis, Shemaiah and Avtalyon.  Later, he himself became president of the Sanhedrin.  He was noted for his humility and tendency to leniency.

The Christians have changed this comment since he had said it as thus:  Don't do to others what you would not want done to you.  It had come about when someone had asked him to hurry and tell him the essence of Judaism while standing on one foot, and he commented with what was then known as the "Golden Rule."  Now the Christians speak of it as Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

The Pope  told his audience that this is the yardstick that we will be measured by.  Yes, we Jews have always thought this.  I repeat, this is the essence of Judaism.
                                                                         

Netanyahu also commented on the image of Moses on the wall when he addressed Congress. "Netanyahu was referencing a marble relief that has hung in the House chamber since 1950, just two years after the modern state of Israel was founded. The bas relief was sculpted of white Vermont marble by artist Jean de Marco, according to the Architect of the Capitol." 

 Netanyahu had said to the listeners, "He then quoted Deuteronomy 31:6, Moses’ parting words to the Israelites, in Hebrew: “Be strong and resolute, neither fear nor dread them.”  It was nice to know that the Pope thought well of Moses being he brought the Israelites The Laws that were to create a better civilization.

 Does that mean that Moses is not considered "religious?"  What?  Was he to the world just considered a political leader, a philosopher  or simply a leader leading some people on a trek?  Or is it that religious figures cannot be in the Congress's building like the 10 Commandments?  Do they realize it was Moses who gave us the 10 Commandments?

Pope Francis Ignoring Jews on White House Visit

The Pope from Rome is coming to meet and speak with President Obama today.  Tonight just happens to be Erev Yom Kippur, meaning the night that the Jewish holiest day of the year is starting.  Coincidence?

Yom Kippur is very special.  Most Jews, if they are able, will attend their synagogue tonight for Kol Nidre and tomorrow morning for Yom Kippur.  They will be fasting after dinner tonight for 25 hours-without drinking any water, which is quite hard to do.  Our narrative is that Moses wrote the 5 books of Moses.  It was Moses who told us to do this.  In Leviticus, 16:29, it says,

"This shall remain for you an eternal decree:  In the 7th moth, on the 10th of the month, you shall afflict yourselves and you shall not do any work, neither the native nor the proselyte who dwells among you.

For on this day he shall provide atonement for you to cleanse you from all your sins before HaShem (translation: (the Word-G-d) shall you be cleansed.

It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall afflict yourselves;  an eternal decree.  The Kohen, who has been anointed or who has been given the authority to serve in place of his father, shall provide atonement;  he shall don the linen vestments, the sacred vestments....This shall be to you an eternal decree to bring atonement upon the children of Israel for all their sins once a year;  and Aaron did as HaShem commanded Moses."

Kohens are the descendants of Aaron, brother of Moses.  This holiday we will start to celebrate tonight is Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year when our affliction is to fast for  repentance. Many Cohens serving in the synagogue today are really ancestors of the Kohens bearing J1 or J2 DNA haplogroup.  Moses is said to have died in 1271 BCE, so we have been having Yom Kippur for 3,286 years.  Now, Jews make up only about 2% of the American population, but it is mighty strange that the Pope wanted to meet Obama today on such an auspicious Jewish holiday.  Coincidence, you say?  The Pope knows exactly what day today is the start of.

This is indeed a first.  It's the first time Obama will host the Pope who will also be addressing a special session of the House and Senate together.
                                                               

A Jesuit priest from Argentina, ex officio as Bishop of Rome, and Sovereign of the Vatican City.  Argentina was a country where many Nazis had escaped to after WWII.  I met several Argentinian Jews in my Ulpan in Israel who were learning Hebrew with me.  By 1990, there were 228,000 Jews living in Argentina, mainly in Buenos Aires.  They have been an important part of Argentina's development of industry and commerce.  Assimilation has also helped to depopulate Argentina besides those making Aliyah to Israel.  

Obama gathered up some strange groups to greet Pope Francis today.  I think he's trying to make a point.  There will be the first gay Episcopal bishop of USA, a transgender head of a Catholic group, a nun who runs Network who was disapproved of by the Catholic heads for lobbying for Obamacare.  This was a no-no because it's not liked by Catholics or other religious groups as they have been funding abortions and Catholics by the Feds are now asked to provide birth control for their employees, which is also a no-no.  Then there's always that inevitable photo op that people get together for in the first place.  In Obama's mind these people might be looked on by the Pope as sinners because they are going against what he preaches.  I guess Obama is helping him to find people that need to be saved.

The Pope and Jews today are not getting along well because of his goings on in the Middle East, visiting Jordan  while holding property in Jerusalem.   The Pope went against Israel completely when he signed a treaty with the PA (Palestinian Authority with Abbas) in which he recognized Palestine as a state. This happened in February 2013.  This is a legal document and constitutes an official recognition.   It is not truly officially one as yet,through the UN,  though they have been trying.  Trying by attacking Israel from Gaza, and being  split and together and split again from Hamas which are terrorists.

Because the Pope did this, Israel's Sanhedrin passed judgement on Pope Francis on September 8th of this year.  A trial and judgement took place on the 20th.  Pope Francis was called  in a summons.  He ignored it, coming to the USA on today.  He was then judged in absentia.  His decision to recognize the Palestinians as a state is the cause of the trial.   Today's Sanhedrin is a religious high court of 71 rabbis.  The Pope's statement that the Jews have no right to the land of Israel or to Jerusalem was shocking.  Now the Pope has switched the relations from the PLO to the State of Palestine.  It's a treaty.

The Pope has also gone as far as calling Abbas an angel of peace!  In doing all this, Israel sees the significance as the Pope rejecting the Biblical roots of the Jews who live in the land of Israel.  They were led there to live by Moses, and that's what the 5 books all lead up to.  The Jews lived there from 1271 BCE when Moses died till 70 CE when the ROMANS, who had been occupying Jerusalem, attacked the 2nd Temple and burned it down along with the whole city of Jerusalem, causing all the Jews of Judah to flee.

Jews have been very faithful to the Democratic party.  They were attracted by Franklin Delano Roosevelt during WW II when 6 million Jews died in the Holocaust of Europe.  The Democratic Party is like a father to them.  It is said that more than 70% of the Jews of the USA had voted for Obama both times!

Now he's gone against Israel big time by siding with  Iran, a Muslim state who wants to destroy the Jewish state and who we feel is making nuclear power for just that reason.  Up to now, the USA has been Israel's friend, the only  Democratic country sharing values with the USA.

Today the Palestinians are on the same level in the UN with  official observer status, just like the Pope's Vatican.   Of course no Jews should be hanging around the White House today or tomorrow for any receptions or meetings.  They will be in their synagogues.   Such as how our White House schedules events.

The Pope ignored Israel quite a bit when he visited with Jordan recently on his 3 day whirlwind, spending time more with the Palestinians.  .

The Iran Deal's Analysis By Israel's Aman Military Intelligence

My former junior high students in Safed, Israel are now from age 41 to 46.  They've served in the IDF (Israel Defense Force)  and are still on call until age 55.  Every year they serve a month in training called the milueem to keep in shape and to keep up with the latest ideas.  Some may already be grandparents.  They were my 7th through 9th graders in my English classes from 1981 to 1985. Both men and women serve in the IDF.
                                                                           

Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday  Jews everywhere will be observing Yom Kippur, a time of fasting and asking  G-d for forgiveness from any wrongs they may have done. This was a directive from Moses. We've been observing this holiday for at least 3,286 years.   My students must be thinking of their families and children and what the future holds for them from now and through the next 25 years when Iran threatens that  there will be no more Israel.  Israel was attacked on Yom Kippur  October 6, 1973 by Egyptian and Syrian forces and a full-scale war erupted. Israel lost more than 2,600 men.  Arabs had used their Arab oil as a weapon at this time.   Several doomsday prophecies are centered around this period for this year. The Blood moon has a lot to do with it.

Israelis are aware of the analysis prepared by Israel's military intelligence branch, Aman, which was presented to Prime Minister Netanyahu and the political echelon recently. The IDF's Intelligence Corps (חיל המודיעין), abbreviated as Haman (חמ"ן) and headed by a brigadier general, has been detached from Aman since the Yom Kippur War, but remains under its jurisdiction. The head of Aman is 2014–present: Major General Herzl Ha-Levi.   The main points of the analysis were printed immediately in the Israeli press.  It was certainly not an endorsement of the Iran deal that Obama is so happy with.
                                                                         

Since the USA's Jewish population of about 2% of the country's population happens to be mostly Democrats, many of our Jewish senators went along with Obama.  How they came to this decision is beyond me, as I accumulated so many reasons why it was a bad bad deal, but their going along really doesn't mean they supported the deal.  It's more like resigned acquiescence.
                                                                           

Many people thought Israel should back off from a fight over the deal, afraid of angering Obama more than being afraid of Iran's fullfilling their threat to destroy Israel.  The became resigned and think it's inevitable that Iran will get the bomb, no matter what, so why provoke Barack Obama? Who folded?   Ron Wyden, long time Senator from Oregon gave Obama his vote.  So did Congressman Jerry Nadler, New York.  Of course, J Street had a lot to do with keeping them faithful to Obama.  However, Senator Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, voted against it and he had more to lose than anyone.  He was a leader in the Senate and dared to vote NO after careful study of the deal.
                                                                           

The intelligence assessment is that Iran won't be able to build a bomb according to the agreement if they don't cheat, and that is the hangup. Of course they will cheat.   Anybody who thinks they haven't already been cheating is very naive.  They will continue to cheat and won't be caught in doing so. They're on their own turf.  There's no chance of them not cheating because they will even be their own inspectors in the military areas according to this slanted agreement.  How the USA ever stupidly bought into this only heaven knows!!
                                                                                 

At this moment Iran is full of demonstrators and posters of hatred for the USA.  I just saw them shown on the TV news program.                                            

                                                                           

The assessment tells how inspection mechanisms are flawed.  Iran will do some of their own inspections!  How nice for them.  How did they ever get this in the deal?  There were said to be lots of secret deals going on.   This is a country and an area of where baksheesh was born, pay-offs for things done.  It is even thought that Iran will hardly be able to restrain themselves and will continue supporting terror groups just to consolidate their gains from sanctions relief.  They are a regime who are supplying many terror groups and have been for a long time already.
                                                                                 

The problem will happen if not sooner, when the agreement expires in about 25 years.  My 7th, 8th and 9th graders will be 66 to 71 years of age by then in 25 more years, and Iran will be only weeks away from having a nuclear bomb.
                                                                               

In the meantime, Iran is seen as legitimate from this deal, the real deal-makers, making Trump look like a junior high student in making deals.  It makes the Arabs and Israel stock up on all the latest weapons and now all will want a nuclear program of their own.  They will be more militarized so that in 25 years they will be ready for the big fight.
                                                                           

Russia comes out the winner in the Iran Deal

The problem shows that the risks of this deal are greater than the opportunities it seems to be selling to the public. This is a terrible deal for Israel and the USA.   Israel has to think and plan for the day after a done deal on Iran.  I note that in the USA, the vote hasn't even hit the Senate floor like promised.  It's all over?  No chance of mind's changing?  This goes along with asking Obama what he would do if the vote didn't pass and he said that wouldn't happen.

49% of Americans are against the deal.  30% are undecided.  In my opinion, this has come down to a political decision  of Democrats against Republicans instead of an intelligent decision about giving an unstable and Czarist Iran the A Bomb!  .  Everyone is now wondering if Israel will go it alone and try to take out the nuclear sites like they did to the one in Syria and the other in Iraq.  With Russians in Syria now trying to dominate air space, that makes it quite hard.  So does the possibility of of the USA even trying to shoot them down.
                                                                         

My German shepherd and I in Safed, Israel February 1982.  You can see our red Fiat in front of our apartment building on David Elezar.  Across the street is the junior high that I taught in from 81-85.  Every month I went with the police in their van with an M1 rifle on night patrol looking for terrorists keeping the city safe.  We gave blood at the blood bank so that if we were in need of it, we would also be on the receiving end.  

I will not be around in 25 years, but my children and grandchildren will, and so will my former junior high students be around in Israel.  They will be saying that this is not their golden years, but their very brassy ones, not worrying so much about old age and the problems that brings, but constant war and the knowledge that Iran wants to destroy both the Big Satan and the Little Satan with their nuclear devices such as an A bomb on the nose of a rocket.

 The whole world will be armed to the teeth, especially their world.  Ever since 1948 Israelis have been under the gun in attacks, but now they must worry about an A Bomb.  The only Democratic state in the Middle East, and it has come to this.

Anti-Semitism Is Still Alive and Sick in USA

It was Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Marco Rubio who answered the question, 

"What will America look like after you are president?

Ann Coulter, born in December 1961, Republican pundit and writer, got off with the Republican candidates who mentioned Israel and tweeted about them "pandering to f....ing Jews. 

                                                                           

A few of these candidates spoke about Israel's importance in the scope of USA's future which brought on Coulter's ire-and her bad language..  

 It's bad enough when people write about us Jews in particular, but she had the audacity to use "f....ing" as our adjective, showing her very big disdain for our people. 

 She was being interviewed about it on TV by Megyn Kelly of Fox News who called her on being upset with "Jews" but not with the "f....ing" adjective!  Megyn seemed to not want to arouse her ire, so just went on and let it lie..  I didn't like to see that go unchallenged.

Just letting you know, people, that anti-Semitism is still with us in America.  Gosh, and we're all of about 2% of the population!  We don't have the reputation of getting drunk, winding up in jail or prison, and most of us are either business people or teachers and professors, doctors, lawyers and I've heard one is even an Indian Chief!  We stay off the unemployment rolls quite well!  So what's her beef?  Anti-Semitism.  We don't go to her accepted list of churches.

I noticed her anti-Semitic nasties on October 11, 2007 when . "Ann Coulter called Jews "Imperfect" on a Cable TV program, and I wrote a brief article about it.  She hasn't changed.  That imperfectness comes from not belonging to her religion.  She must think of herself and her peers as the perfect people, then.  

She wrote one good article about Jews and Israel which which I wrote about in 2007:  http://jewishfactsfromportland.blogspot.com/2007/11/european-anti-semitism-disclosed-in.html where she blasted ADL for not doing anything, and this had merit.  " The fact is that Israel is in danger of being eliminated. The ADL is not facing the truth, and is pussyfooting around with other less important issues."   However, it is laughable that she, who has the reputation now of knocking Jews, did once appropriately.  

I always wonder about people who display anti-Semitism.  "Ann Hart Coulter is an American conservative social and political commentator, writer, syndicated columnist, and lawyer. She frequently appears on television, radio.  She was being interviewed about the Republican's 2nd "Debate" last night.  

Ann Hart.  Hart can be either Jewish or German.  According to her bio, she's never been married. She had been engaged to an Andrew Stein, Democrat!  He might even be Jewish. Stein told the New York Post that the relationship was over, citing irreconcilable differences."  Ann Coulter.    Coulter is a surname of ancient Gael royals. The O’Coulter (I. O’Coltarain) chiefs ruled Dal Coirb in the portion of Gaelic Ireland's Ulidia (kingdom) that is now the Barony (Ireland) of Castlereagh. Ulidia kingdom was the last patrimony of the Ulaid nation."  So it could be that this "princess" did not want to be Abie's Irish rose.

 She lives in New York and Florida, states with a high Jewish population.    Most likely her parents reacted in kind to Jews.  Usually it starts in the home. 

 "Coulter's brand of insult commentary has earned her a unique, conservative fan base. She has insulted other things besides Jews, such as 9/11 widows, as well as  a variety of Democratic politicians.  There is a comment I see revealing.  Most Jews in New York are Democrats, and she being a lawyer, must have come up against arguing against a few Jewish lawyers.  

Her personality makeup is to insult people, much like Trump's.   She lost her job with MSNBC in "February 1997, after she insulted the then U.S. Ambassador to France, the late Pamela Harriman, as MSNBC was covering her memorial service. She was dismissed again from another job after she tangled with a Vietnam veteran campaigning against landmines.

I might add that Mike Huckabee has a TV program and always defends Israel, at least every time I have watched. This is not an affect he has just put on for running for president.  It's part of him.   He has a lot of knowledge of Israel's history and has visited many times. 

 I note that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, the 2 junior senators, have roots in Cuba and in being newer immigrants than most people.  I don't know their brand of Christianity, but am happy to note that they defend Israel.  In my book, these are pluses. 

 Marco Rubio, U of Miami educated,  is a junior United States Senator from Florida, serving since January 2011.  He was an excellent debater.

  Ted Cruz, Harvard and Princeton educated,  is also a junior 
senator and in  the "U.S. Senate since  2012 and is the first Hispanic American to serve as a U.S. senator representing Texas.   Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, his name officially is Rafael Edward Cruz.  We are lucky his parents moved to the USA as he is a go-getter.

1950-1967:  USA went for balance of military power between all Middle East nations.  While France and Germany were main arms partners for Israel, US economic aid was evenly divided.  Israel received abt $60 million per year between 1946-1971.  Arabs received abt $170 million per year.  2/3 of UNRWA budget came from USA supporting Palestinian refugees.  USA recognized our shared values with Israel.
 President John F. Kennedy (1961-1963) 35th President, said:  Israel carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.  

President Richard M. Nixon ((1969-1974) 37th President, said:  "The Israelis have shown qualities that Americans identify with:  guts, patriotism, idealism, and a passion for freedom." Moshe Sharett of Mapai Party was PM from 1954-1955  .

1956:  The Sinai War from October 29 to November 5, 1956.  USA's President Eisenhower said,.  “Despite the present, temporary interests that Israel has in common with France and Britain, you ought not to forget that the strength of Israel and her future are bound up with the United States.”

1961 - Trial in Jerusalem of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, whom Israeli agents kidnapped from Argentina. April 11, 1961 to June 1, 1962 when he was hung.  John F. Kennedy was 35th USA President then.  David Ben-Gurion (1955-1963)  Kennedy said, "“Let us make it clear that we will never turn our backs on our steadfast friends in Israel, whose adherence to the democratic way must be admired by all friends of freedom.”

1967-1968:  June 5th to 11th 1967 SIX DAY WAR:   USA regards Israel as an ally in the Middle East.  Israel had a victory over Arabs who were backed by the Soviets in the 1967 War.  USA realized Israel could help contain Soviet expansion in Middle East.  In 1968 Congress agreed to sell US Phantom jets to Israel, but continued to provide sophisticated military equipment to Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, all enemies of Israel.  Providing arms is big business.  War means business.
Lyndon Baines Johnson (1963-1969)  was USA's 36th President at the time.  He said, ""I may not worry as much as Prime Minister Levi Eshkol does about Israel, but I worry as deeply."

1967: Moshe Dayan: Born on a kibbutz on May 20, 1915, died October 16, 1981,   Mainly  Defense Minister during the Six-Day War in 1967, he became to the world a fighting symbol of the new state of Israel.  After being blamed for the army's lack of preparation before the outbreak of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and for his failure of nerve during the war, he left the military and joined politics. As Foreign Minister Dayan played an important part in negotiating the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

1969:   Israel captured new Soviet Military Equipment-proves their value to USA.  Operation Rooster 53 was Israel's daring raid when Israeli paratroopers captured the newest Soviet radar in Egypt and gave the technological information to the USA.

1970:  Syria Threatened Jordan and Israel showed Syria their Star of David from up high.  The USA asked Israel to support Jordan when Syrian tanks invaded them, so Israeli jets didn't attack, just flew low to Syrian tank commander to see their Star of David, and they quickly withdrew from Jordan, Israel's neighbor.  Nixon and  Golda Meier were in the seat of power.
                                                                               

1973:  Yom Kippur War from October 6th to 25th 1973.  Richard Milhous Nixon was  37th President from 1969 to 1974.  He said, "The United States will not impose the terms of peace.  1987:   December - First Intifada uprising begins in Occupied Territories. Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza forms Hamas movement, which rapidly turns to violence against Israel. President Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th President of USA (1981-1989) , and PM Yitzhak Shamir as heads of state.

1991:   GULF WAR George Herbert Walker Bush, 41st President (1989-1993) Three Scuds and one Patriot missile hit Ramat Gan in Israel, wounding 96 people; three elderly people die of heart attacks.  Also, Operation Solomon: He said, ""The friendship, the alliance between the United States and Israel is strong and solid -- built upon a foundation of shared democratic values, of shared history and heritage that sustain the moral life of our two countries. The emotional bond of our peoples goes -- it transcends politics. Our strategic cooperation -- and I renewed today our determination that that go forward -- is a source of mutual security. And the United States' commitment to the security of Israel remains unshakable. We may differ over some policies from time to time, individual policies, but never over this principle."

2001 January - Failure of last-ditch efforts at restarting Israeli-Palestinian talks in Taba, Egypt, Barak loses elections to Sharon, who declines to continue talks.

2002:   March-May - Israeli army launches Operation Defensive Shield on West Bank after spate of Palestinian suicide bombings. Largest military operation on West Bank since 1967.

 June - Israel begins building barrier in and around Judea-Samaria. Israel says barrier aimed at stopping Palestinian attacks; Palestinians see it as a tool to grab land. Route is controversial as frequently deviates from pre-1967 ceasefire line into Judea-Samaria.

JUNE 4, 2003:  The Road Map, when Abbas of the Palestinians, King Abdullah II of Jordan and President George  W. Bush of USA (2001-2009)  got together at the Aqaba Summit with plan to get Palestinians to end terrorism and anati-Israel incitement.  Israel was to help them build their institutions and freeze settlement building.  They planned for a Palestinian state by 2005.  THE QUARTET-UN, EU, USA and Russia were to oversee the process.  None of them, except the USA, were on Israel's side.  Look at past history.  Even USA was shaky with many anti-Semites against Israel's future. APRIL 2004:  Unilateral Disengagement Plan of Gaza:  PM Sharon of Israel said they would withdraw unilaterally from the remaining 20% of Gaza and from a large part of the northern JUDEA AND SAMARIA (West Bank) by uprooting all Jewish communities that were living there.  George W. Bush President

NOVEMBER 11, 2004  Yasser Arafat died in Paris.  Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is elected Chairman of the PLO and later president of the PA.

AUGUST 2005:  Israel finished withdrawal from Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria, even dug up deceased from cemeteries.  16 month procedure to move, leaving businesses, homes, everything but Jews.  "About nine thousand Israeli residents within Gaza were instructed to leave the area or face eviction by the night of Tuesday August 16, 2005."  For them it was like the exodus from the Pale of Russia-leaving for the unknown.   Israeli Leftist Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by right-wing Israeli radical Yigal Amir.

Criticized over conduct of war forced to leave Hezbollah forces intact.  

September 2007:  IDF Air Force destroyed nuclear reactor in Syria.
November 2007:  Annapolis Conference established 2-state solution for future talks

December 2008: Israel forced to invade Gaza to stop Hamas and others from shooting rockets into Israel.  1 month full-scale invasion.

January 2009:  Israel discovery of major offshore natural gas deposits

JULY 2013:  Talks resumed with PA under US auspices with John Kerry.  Israel released 104 prisoners in goodwill gesture.  Talks were to be for 9 months only.

DECEMBER 2013:   Israel, Jordan and PA sign agreement to save the Dead Sea from drying up-pump water from Red Sea.

JANUARY 2014:  Abu Dhabi held Energy and Water renewable energy conference and Israel attended leading a business delegation to 1st visit to United Arab Emirates since 2010.

MARCH 2014:  Protests from ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem against exemptions for religious students from military.
                                                                           

JUNE 2014:  3 Israel teens kidnapped, murdered in Judea-Samaria , Hamas members arrested, militants escalated rocket-fire from Gaza.

JULY-AUGUST 2014:  Gaza has armed groups attacking, Israel then had military campaign by air, land, to end missile launching sites and attack tunnels, Clashes end in uneasy Egyptian-brokered ceasefire in August. USA sends representative over to Israel for liberal party to vote against Netanyahu, interfering in Israel's democratic  political election.

DECEMBER 2014:  Israel had early elections over dispute in tax breaks and to reinforce Jewish nature of state

MAY 2015:   Netnayhu won, formed new coalition government, right-wing Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party came in as main junior partner in Likud-led coalition.  In an interview on May 21 with Jeffrey Goldberg in the Atlantic, Obama said, ""I care deeply about preserving that Jewish democracy, because when I think about how I came to know Israel, it was based on images of kibbutzim, and Moshe Dayan, and Golda Meir, and the sense that not only are we creating a safe Jewish homeland, but also we are remaking the world. We’re repairing it. We are going to do it the right way."
                                                                         

SEPTEMBER 2015:  President Obama wants Iran deal passed, threatened to shoot down Israeli planes if they attack nuclear plants in Iran.  Netanyahu working against the Iran deal for years-Iran has threatened Israel with complete destruction for years.

 "According to Al-Jarida, the Netanyahu government took the decision to strike Iran some time in 2014 soon after Israel had discovered the United States and Iran had been involved in secret talks over Iran’s nuclear program and were about to sign an agreement in that regard behind Israel's back.  The Bethlehem-based news agency Ma’an has cited a Kuwaiti newspaper report Saturday, that US President Barack Obama thwarted an Israeli military attack against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2014 by threatening to shoot down Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran.
                                                                              

The report claimed that an unnamed Israeli minister who has good ties with the US administration revealed the attack plan to Secretary of State John Kerry, and that Obama then threatened to shoot down the Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran."  "Former US diplomat Zbigniew Brzezinski, who enthusiastically campaigned for Obama in 2008, called on him to shoot down Israeli planes if they attack Iran. “They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?” said the former national security advisor to former President Jimmy Carter in an interview with the Daily Beast. 

                                                                              

A Kuwaiti newspaper is reporting that President Obama, angered at Israeli plans to strike Iran nuclear facilities in 2014, threatened to shoot down Israeli planes before they could reach their targets.
The paper, Al Jarida, cites only anonymous sources and just a handful of other publications have followed the story. But according to israelnationalnews.com, the Arabic newspaper quoted "well-placed" sources as saying Benjamin Netanyahu and two top aides "had decided to carry out air strikes against Iran's nuclear program after consultations with top security commanders."  The administration denies he ever said this.  
" From Times of Israel, "Ilan Kfir, co-author of a new Hebrew-language biography of Barak, said he and colleague Danny Dor decided to air the interviews after Barak backtracked on a pledge to give them the rights to the English-language version of the book.  Kfir said he and Dor have 100 hours of Barak on tape---which were recorded with his full consent---and that the leaked recordings already appear in text form in the soon-to-be-released Hebrew book, of which the parts relating to Iran have been proofread by Barak and authorized by military censor.  

The leaked tapes, detailing three times Israel ostensibly planned to strike Iran but refrained for various reasons, have rocked Israel’s political landscape since they were first aired by Channel 2 news Friday night after being cleared by the country’s military censor. This information was published August 24, 2015.   The various reasons are unknown.  Now the Russians are in Syria, and ISIS is in Syria and Iraq.  

                                                                        

Judaism has the tradition that what we do each year gets written down in the Book Of Life.  We exchange the traditional blessing on the 1st evening of Rosh Hashana, "May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year."

Our Jewish sages explain that on Rosh Hashana, the Birthday of the World, we all stand in judgment before G-d...like a flock of sheep before the shepherd.  If we are worthy, we are "inscribed" in the Book of Life".  Ten days later, on Yom Kippur, the Book is sealed.  Through repentance, prayer, and charity, we can sweeten the decree and merit G-d's blessings for health, well-being, and prosperity for the coming year.

Surely, nations come under this record as well.
